Yeah, what's Obama going to do? At this point, not much that's meaningful.

By his past foreign policy blunders he's pussied himself into a corner that he can't "man" himself out of. Who on the world stage now takes him seriously? Putin has *****slapped him for the last several months. So what the stronger American presidents might have been able to do short of military action, he can't.

We can't get Europe to go along with meaningful sanctions because they're bigger pussies than Obama.

One think I'd like to see him do, is rekindle the missile defense programs he canceled, and expand beyond just Poland and the Czech Republic.

Say what you will about G.W. Bush but Putin had a bit more respect for the office of POTUS back then.

He thinks Obama is joke in an empty suit.

LMFAO .... Its hilarious watching you people get mad no matter what Obama does, because you bate him that much. No matter what decision he makes you will complain, just because he is who he is.

    Um....BS

That what his defenders have been reduced to: "You don't like him because of who he is." Put that card back in deck. Doesn't apply.

I suppose you hated everything that Bush did only because Bush did it.

Kinda like some members and Republicans
Zing.. Although I think there are some that do the same to an extent concerning libertarians they are also critical of democrats and even some republicans as well.

Those members that you speak of are pretty critical in their hatred of everything republican and mostly focus on that.

Cmon people, this isnt a "card" its a truth. Look at you. You complain he isnt doing anything in Syria, then when it comes out we are going to arm the rebels its "OMG he's arming our enemies!" You complain he isnt doing anything about the Iraq takeover, then it comes out he's sending a couple hundred people it's "OMG thats none of our business." Then he joins NATO in Lybia and its "OMG thats none of our business!!!!!" and dont give me that because congress didnt vote bs, youd have the same opposite of what he does opinion. Now you are calling for him to do what against Russia, since sanctions arent enough, what should he do?

It's not the truth, it is a card. And you're playing it. In other words, you're embellishing to make a point that isn't quite there, to put down a group you really don't like. Either your "truth" is made of straw, or you don't really want to understand what people are actually saying because then it might impede that delicious "truth".

Generally Obama's foreign policy has put us into a position where there's not much he can do. Time and time again, Obama has pussied himself into a corners he can't man himself out of.

I've already mentioned some specific things he can do about Ukraine like go on with the missile defense systems in every eastern Europe nation that wants them. But of course, it goes against Obama's ideology and his pussified nature. Generally, I'll add this to what he should do. Be bold. Be presidential. Be a leader. Outwardly do **** that really pisses Putin off and puts him in a bad position, then behind the scenes offer to stop when he stops.

What would you like him to do? Goto war with Russia? Yee-ok...

Yeah, the Kenyan has his faults, and inaction is definitely one of them. But what is he supposed to do in this case?

He's already working with the EU to up the sanctions on Russia, what else is there to do?

Yeah, what's Obama going to do? At this point, not much that's meaningful.

There is a ton he could do... if he had a comprehensive, coherent foreign policy.

    As a start:
    The (in development) Lex Doctrine.

I'd also like to see the Dutch do something like, "The Dutch people are committed to retrieving the remains of our citizens. With the cooperation of the Ukrainian authorities the Dutch military will escort Dutch investigators to the scene of the crash. Any violence toward the Dutch people will be met with overwhelming force."

    The Dutch are capable, too.

Also, wouldn't really matter if the Ukrainian authorities consented, at that point, they'd be boxed in.

I personally find it interesting that this flight carrying many important and/or tragic death figures (AIDs researchers for example) and especially many Dutch citizens gets shot down just after the BRICS opened their first major challenge to the petrodollar.

Exactly. Stop being Putin's door mat that he wipes his feet on. You're POTUS. Act like it means something.

He doesn't. He hasn't. So given the reality, not the 'ifs,' what would you have him do?

    Oh - I thought we were playing a big what-if game. :)

Really, the best he could do would be to abdicate. I mean, resign. Except that would put Uncle Joe in charge.

In that case, I would have him put together a comprehensive, coherent foreign policy. I'd settle for coherent. I'd probably even settle for just rational.

Practically, speaking, I would go back to my other post. Push forward for the missile defense shield in Eastern Europe. Provide direct assistance in the Ukraine for them to protect their borders. (Domestically, we need to get that under control, too, but that's a different thread.)

There are a ton of options - including backchanneling support to the Netherlands to push for a coalition of the willing to help Ukraine impose peace. The Dutch have every reason to be righteously indignant. They should take the lead.

Oh, we should get the Dutch to fight a ground war in Ukraine? And fund it? We've already given the Ukraine over $1 Billion that we don't have. Now we should give money to the Dutch to fight a ground war in the Ukraine. That worked out so well the last time major powers got involved in that region.
