Because carrying a handgun in Illinois is illegal. Merely owning a handgun inside the city limits of Chicago is illegal. You would have to disarm to legally enter the state.

#1 I was asking alfahornet why he asked...

#2 I realize IL is a socialist state and I am aware of their unconstitutional laws (how can an illegal law be legal?)

#3 Maybe I should have asked, "alfahornet, what is the point of your question?" I just do not see how it relates to what I was saying and I was trying to give the gentlemen the benifit of the doubt.

#4 Never mind... my time can be better spent in the classifieds

Well, darn near. Any pistol that was not registered prior to the 1983 handgun freeze is illegal. Registrations have to be renewed every year.

I know several people who legally own pistols in Chicago.

Now, back to the topic at hand, when can we go bother Stan?:D

Stan said no date has been firmed up yet as there are a ton of things to do before the grand opening!

I have been jammed up with work and the passing of my favorite nephew or I would've helped more than I have so far.

Same here, my father in law did a lot of the original finish work in the building, and while he cannot work for money (rules of pension through Union) he discussed helping for membership benefits. LMK

Stop in to the new range. There are fliers outside for the taking. They list membership/range fees, ...

If you get a chance, stop in BEFORE 2pm Mon. - Fri. If Stan is there, talk to him.

    Can't hurt to ask:dunno:

Are we going to be allowed to shoot anything other than fmj ammo? Is there goign to be a charge for bringing in my own ammo? I believe the old owners charged $3 to bring in my own ammo. I mostly load lead or hollow point ammo and the old owners wouldn't allow me to shoot it there.

    Out of State :(
Tried looking for range info on-line but no luck...

There were MANY strange things the old owners did to persuade anyone who shoots from going there... I'm curious to see the new range and the improvements being made to the overall facility. I know the range system is state of the art so ammo type shouldn't be an issue (as posted earlier in this thread).

I'm interested to see the fee schedule for shooting at Applied Ballistics Inc. The old establishment was very high for such a range. Just to put range fees in perspective... Scottsdale Gun Club is likely the highest in the Country and it is the premier indoor shooting range by which all others are measured (by me at least) and their fees are below. High but fair for what you get.

    $100 Initial Registration Fee
    $29.95 per month

I'd hope to see some sort of free pass range membership and another discounted type membership for those of us who don't shoot much on indoor ranges but function testing or chronograph use is needed...

I'd also LOVE to see IDPA night and USPSA night on the indoor range!!! I'd be happy to discuss possibilities...

WELCOME, STAN & COMPANY, TO THE INDOOR GUN RANGE BUSINESS!!!

I took my .40 HiPoint to the range under the old owners and was able to shoot my own ammo for no charge...and then I bought a membership for the place...only to have the place close 3 months into it :xmad: but glancing into county records showed that the old owner was into foreclosure proceedings for quite a long time (looks like at least a year, possibly 3 if I am reading it right)...I have high hopes that Stan can bring us quite the experience with the new setup at the range :D:rockwoot:
Build it Stan and we will come

I anxiously wait the opening of the range! I'm driving my self crazy driving to Indy to shoot. Doing it again tomorrow afternoon. Stan, I know that you and your crew are working as fast as they can, but I have to workout some frustrations before I go "Nuckin Futs", missing the aroma of gunpowder!

Stan I'm glad you took the feedback here and are reviewing your rules. A big +1 for that. I'm also excited because I am moving literally just around the corner from the range tomorrow, so itll be a skip and a hop to have a place to shoot now!

We really do appreciate the input. That is why we put up the web site early.

I aggree that unloading in the parking lot seems to be more of a safety problem than leaving it in the holster or case.

    Great point!

I am sure you will see a revision of the carry rule soon!

Any updates on this? The website still lists no loaded firearms except on the range?
