Ventura claims that Kyle was trying to discredit him because of his support for Ron Paul, it would have been hard for me to believe until Ron decided to tell us how he really felt about Chris Kyle

Other media outlets claim to have found witnesses to verify Kyle's account.

Should be a slam dunk in court then.

Why is Ventura doing this then? He should know he's going down in court when witnesses get put under oath.

Again, I can see chest thumping or whatever to try and save face but letting the story die would be better for Ventura (if true) than suing a widow and then having a courtroom full of witnesses seal his fate.

As... unique as Ventura is, he isn't stupid, it just doesn't make sense to go down this course unless Kyle made the *entire* thing up.

Some people are just looking to self destruct though...
    :dunno:

A court loss might not mean anything to him, it's not a major case and I never even heard about it before this thread. He probably just likes being an ass, maybe he's getting senile.....?

And we'll have to wait for the judge and/or jury to decide if assault and bragging about it in a book has consequences.

If we let people walk all over our friends and family because we might get sued, then what kind of world is that. I wasn't there, I don't know how bad it got or how bad Jesse deserved that knuckle sandwich but Kyle was and he did what he thought was right. I'll take his word for it.

With everything that's going on, people are attacking Ventura? What for?

Maybe we can help Kyle's widow out by all buying a copy of her husband's book -- at least those like me who have not bought it yet. I hear it is a good read.

This can't possibly be a smart move for his image.

Trying to desecrate the legacy of an American hero is bad enough, but to drag that hero's wife through court to do it is despicable.

    Decidedly uncouth.

I think I'll do just that. I wanted the book anyway.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Ventura has been head butted too many times. When there isn't too much in there it can be easily dislodged and bounce around.

What if... and I'm not saying this is true because I don't really know ... but what if that American Hero turns out to be a big fat liar that simply didn't like Jesse Ventura? Are you saying Jesse Ventura should just shrug it off because the guy died? I wouldn't.

That's what I've been thinking. We still don't know who was telling the truth, if either of them were.

The fact that Ventura is continuing with this in spite of the inevitable tsunami of hatred and outrage he will evoke kind of leads me to believe he might be telling the truth this time. There can't be much to gain financially here and it's only going to further damage his already damaged reputation. What would he have to gain if he's lying?

That, plus the fact that it supposedly happened in front of a bunch of people, and if it were true I think we'd have seen a few corroborating accounts from witnesses now that this whole thing is public and heavily reported. Especially on a forum like this one.

Ventura was an a-hole IMO before this happened, so he's got nothing to lose.

Who invited him and why didn't they escort him to the door?
Because it happened at a bar. (what? you thought it was a wake at a funeral home? ...dishonest for people to say 'wake' or 'funeral' when they were clearly at a bar..that was frequented by SEALs and a few were there because of the funeral in the area).

So, while Kyle was beating on him, if Jesse screamed "Help Me! Help Me!", and pulled out his Kel-Tech and popped him......would you have called for Jesse's acquittal?
