I'm just curious as to where you feel the line is in this whole thing. I'm truly wondering the mindset regarding this.

Do you go and ask your employees who they voted for and then fire them if you disagree with their choices?
I doubt it is anything like that, but if you go around braggin who you voted for and I feel that the person you voted for is detrimental to my way of life, well you are outta there

They can't fire you because you have a gun in your vehicle, but if they find out, and don't like it, they can fire you because your car has 4 doors and is blue, and they only like cars with 2 doors if they are blue. Or they can just fire you, and say " I despise you on a personal level ", or say nothing at all.

Good luck proving what it was for.

With FB out there, I am sure that is only one of the reasons some employers get rid of some employees when the time for cuts comes up

I guess they could be fearful of gun owners sabotaging equipment or even bringing guns to the workplace.

Can you be fired because you support 2A rights?

That's why I keep my FB at the most secure setting, I don't like people snooping. I use it to talk to friends and family, and share pictures.

For the third time, ;) I think the employer should be allowed to hire/fire anyone for any reason at any time. Emphasis on ANY. IOW, there is no line but what the employer draws.

Do you go and ask your employees who they voted for and then fire them if you disagree with their choices?

You're not getting it. The employer in this article didn't fire them just because they voted for Obama. Had he not had the need to reduce his payroll by two, I am quite sure those two would have retained their jobs. But given that a RIF had to occur, the employer decided to base his choice on the voting history/political support. Would I have done the same thing? Depends. But probably not. Because I would do something more despicable than firing for their political position: I'd refused to hire them based on their political position. How ya like them apples? ;)

(I really should read through all these posts first so I can just multi-quote.)

I was refused a job in part because of a pro-2A stance I took. The entire tone of the interview changed once I opened my trap. She couldn't wait to end it and escort me out the door.

Well, considering we have two super majorities for the GOP in both the House and Senate and a Tea Party governor........

We're not in the middle at all.

Does Indiana now have a constitutional amendment that prohibits homosexual marriage? No.

Has Indiana had a referendum for a constitutional amendment that prohibits homosexual marriage? No.

Is the opinion of 50% of the people of the United States, to be not considered in the middle, if not mainstream? No again.

Have the "super majorities" of the state of Indiana, taken action in this matter since taking office this year? No, yet again.

Please explain to me how the people of Indiana, and the current Indiana government, are then not considered such. Please refrain from assigning subjective reasoning, and utilize objective facts in your argument.

Obongo is a racial epithet for Obama?

Urban Dictionary defines 'Obongo' as a play on the president's last name, citing his roots as a ".....typical Apefrican, bongo beating, bush monkey."

Whatever that means. Then again, I still haven't figured out the pejorative of "cracker" either.

It's every bit of the business owners right. Just a shame he has to reinforce the stereotype. Hopefully he won't complain when he's boycotted for his actions.

Its only their right if it is a right to work state. I live in Indiana and am a law student and in Indiana anybody can be fired at anytime for almost any reason that is not a civil rights violations. However, each state differs as to their laws for hiring and firing.

So, can I be fired for my stand in favor of 2A rights here in Indiana?

So, can I be fired for my stand in favor of 2A rights here in Indiana?

    Well, yeah.

In all 50 states, federal law makes it illegal to discriminate based on:
    • Race
    • Color
    • National origin
    • Religion
    • Sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions)
    • Disability
    • Age (40 and older)
    • Citizenship status
    • Genetic information
In addition, Indiana state law also prohibits discrimination based on:

    • Race
    • Color
    • National origin
    • Religion
    • Sex
    • Disability: physical or mental (15 or more employees)
    • Age (40 to 75, applies to employers with one or more employees)
    • Citizenship status
    • Off-duty tobacco use
