I believe this was an observation and shelter bunker with a flak position on the roof or next to it.
They did have MG42s but closer to the beach.Probably in torbouk type bunkers.

I have picture taken on the beach bellow that bunker.
You can see 30+ dead soldiers lying there next to smoking vehicles.

Which historical beach is that one?

Hooks on the walls maybe for ammo storage. :dunno:

If you notice there are also hooks on ceiling I'd say Bunks for sleeping

Thanks for posting these pic's. I have been in the bunkers twice under what had been Hitlers house and you can still feel the evil!

Which historical beach is that one?

This is the beach of Dieppe where an attempted landing took place in 1942, two years before the actual D-Day landing.I guess it's not as known as the D-Day and the D-Day beaches.
The first US Rangers who died in France during WW2 died on that beach.

Dieppe basically was a small theory to practice, that pretty much failed. It was more an example of what not to do, than it was of what to do.

    Discovery bump!

In today's adventure professor Sylvain Jones found a mysterious structure standing in the middle of a small wood.
It's made of reinforced concrete, maybe 20 feet tall.

I looked around but looks like there is no other structure next to it.
Is it the entry shaft to an undergound bunker?
    Observation tower?

    :dunno:

It's facing the sea and about 200 yards from the edge of the cliff. There is a concrete road (also from WW2) 40 feet away from that structure.

There is an opening on the base of the structure.

No opening on the other side.It looks like a huge block of concrete stuck into the ground. No idea if there is any kind of opening on the top.

There are tall bunkers for observation on other beaches but this one is smaller and has no opening on the front, or on any sides. :dunno:

I just found out the name of that little wooden area.
Turns out I already saw that name somewhere during my reaserch.
The presence of shelters is mentioned (8 of them next to eachother!) in that area. Not sure if they are above or bellow ground.
