It's a shame it's been vandalized like that...

    Some are kept as museums.

I believe the Allies found many of those bunkers empty once the Germans heard the D-Day landing was a success. They didn't wait in their bunkers to be captured.

I would assume there were pre-determined rally points behind the beaches. I'm sure some surrendered but I would guess most would follow their officers to the rally points.

My hat's off to you, Sylvain, for reminding all of us, since most of us will never be able to see these places in person.:patriot:

Those buildings were built by slave labour, it's also something to keep in mind (and I guess that is not often said). Many of them died to build them.

I think that's it for the tour guys.

Bunker number one is still a mystery.

All the inside pics were just from the second one.

    Tunnel also a mystery. :dunno:

Where is the entrance to the two others?
    Are they linked? :dunno:

    Great thread Sylvain,

There has go to be an entrance to the other bunkers. They couldn't supply those bunkers with weapons & ammo with just the tunnels??? Hope that you find them..

Might be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. I'm assuming these bunkers are on public property, are most of them public or are they mostly owned by private citizens who let people come and go as they please?

I found the one bunker I visited on Google Maps (just the a small part of the roof is visible).Looks like the tunnel is going in the opposite direction from the others bunkers I saw.
I could be wrong, it's hard to tell direction from inside.

The other bunkers are fully covered by the vegetation and you cant see them.

Yes, I believe it was mentioned during a History channel presentation I watched, about D-day.
It presented interesting facts about the construction and reinforcing of the bunkers, as well.

Not sure about those but they are mostly on public property. Some can belong to people if they are in the middle of fields.
Those are next to some houses and I think one of the small building is in someone's yard.
