I think I counted 8 or 10 small rooms inside.

This is just one of the 2 or 3 I saw and they could be linked together by some tunnels.

Thanks for posting these! I really want to go to Europe and visit places like this, but with two young kiddos that is not in the plans right now. I will just have to live vicariously through other people until I can make the trip myself.

You would think that they would have to be cleared at some point, though. I would think three or four guys and a bag o' frags would have had to go down the line and make sure they were all clear.

Especially right along and near the landing zones.

The tunnel is about 10 yards long, it looks like it's turning to the left.

Escape tunnel that goes outside or leading to another room? :dunno:

I think it's about it for the inside pictures. Not gonna show the Nazi gold and such.

    Another picture of the roof.

You can see another building in the background.

I wonder if, once flanked, the German soldiers surrendered (discretion the better part of valor and all), so clearing it might've been relatively easy with a .45 or .30 carbine.

I believe the Allies found many of those bunkers empty once the Germans heard the D-Day landing was a success. They didn't wait in their bunkers to be captured.
