    It’s about to get ugly.

Hey, I’ve been saying we should get it over with for a while now. The attacks aren’t going to stop. Let’s send the boys over and get this party started.

If the war, which is ongoing, escalates into open conventional war with iran, what would be the objective that would require occupying iran? If it's regime change, the iranian people are opposed to the current regime and it would only be neccessary to focus attacks on the IRGC, the political leaders--and their nuclear weapons facilities while we're at it--and it would fall. Doing that could probably be accomplished with missiles. The only reason for occupation would be to repeat the mistakes of afghanistan and iraq, and try to control the form of government that would replace it.

Put one boot on the ground and you are an occupying force. And we did so well in Afghanistan and Iraq......

The neocons will get us 8 more years of a democrat in the white house, and wonder why I despise them again, just like with 2003.

Not when we have probable cause and a warrant. Plus we have God on our side.

Afghanistan and Iraq.... Occupying Force? Really? We freed them.

Oh, that's why they're siding with Iran instead of us.

Those people don't want your brand of freedom. They never did, and never will, they have their way of doing things and they will always go back to it. Forcing them to adopt a model that you like better isn't doing the right thing. It's about like trying to force socialism on the American people because you think socialism is a better system.

And God isn't on our side if we're invading sovereign countries for geopolitical gain.

They don't want freedom. We would do well to understand that.
Define “they”, because if you’ve been there, “they” want freedom, “they” want Levi’s, “they” want to be free to speak their mind without fear of swift and cruel reprisal, “they” want to listen to hip hop, “they” actually like the American/Coalition troops. There are a few select holdouts that want “them” to stay in the Stone Age, and THAT is who we are fighting.

I take it you're too young to remember 2003 and the lead up to the Iraq invasion. The blood thirsty war mongering attitude of people, and short sightedness of our leaders got us into a disastrous war that basically made conservatism a social pariah up until Trump started managing to push that mindset back.

It started with sentiment no different than I'm seeing right now.

I was a freshman in high school. Didn’t give a damn about politics, too busy with sports and girls.

I do however know that it wasn’t just republicans for the war in Iraq. Democrats voted for it also.

I, for one, support going to war with Iran tho. I’m sick of the repeated threats, the attacks on innocent people in embassies, and their provocative behavior. How many ships are to be hijacked, drones to be downed, embassies to be attacked, before it’s ok respond?
