Never tried a flashlight. I always use wooden matches. I'd imagine it would take a pretty powerful flashlight to light charcoal! Whaddaya got, like 10,000 lumens or something?? ;)

Maybe he used the batteries to make a spark? Or to ignite steel wool?

I found another clock I forgot to re-set....:):

I quit changing this one several years ago, I just change the battery once a year. It's not for any other reason than where it's hanging is a pain to get to

Did you mean UTC? Your post seems to fit UTC more than DST.

    Yes. Fixed.

Indiana is entirely within the Central Time Zone geographically so we should be on central time not eastern.

    That is all.
Agreed. I was working at the church last night hurrying to finish so I could get home to the family. I looked out the window at one point and thought "holy crap! I lost track of time. It must be almost 9." Nope. Looked at my watch and it was barely 6.

Folks near the Ohio border and work there might disagree. :dunno:
But the folks who live near IL and work there will love it. :dunno:

Dont think it would be too much fun having it get dark at 4pm in December.

Well I and a whole big chunk of the middle of the country deal with it just fine. Weird that for you sunrise was almost 7:30 this morning. Hole kids getting to the bus stop were ok in the dark.

I really love these discussions on DST and time zones. Where is this tablet from God or proclamation from the King that Indiana is the Central Time Zone? The daylight is the same no matter the time man says it is.

Well God set the wheels in motion and how close the sun is to its zenith at Noon on the equinox kinda points to what zone one is in. Longitudinally, would you say Indianapolis is closer to Chicago or New York City?

What is with Indiana people and their fixation on Daylight Savings Time?

Never heard anyone in Marquette MI constantly bringing up the Eastern time zone as an issue. Never a peep in Thunder Bay, Ontario about switching to the Central Time zone.

    Move On.
