Just talked to my daughter in Vietnam. One of her student's dad was quarantined in Shanghai after arriving from Wuhan. He bribed the people watching him about $20 to let him go out and have lunch with his friends.

Time to order the Tyvek suits from Amazon.

Are there any sites that have this mapped out on like the "Flat World" map with dots that you can set the time line in motion from beginning to present? You know, like in the movies when they are showing the pandemic models to scare you.... but it's real this time. :nailbite:

I know it's a long shot but there are super nerds that have this on graphs and pies and scales and etc... So I figure... why not.

Just watch the resident evil movie.

The current case definition does say that patients that have fever, symptoms of lower respiratory infection, requiring hospitalization, and a history of travel from mainland china meet the case definition for testing.
We are certainly sensitive to the question of when and if this starts spreading more broadly in communities globally, how that impacts how we define a patient under investigation here in the U.S. We want to make sure that we’re targeting our efforts appropriately.

This is why I have been seeing posts of people(specifically in California)posting about being denied a test. They meet all criteria but travel to China.

Sigh....

But hey at least it is great news for Americans. You can not possibly have covid-19 unless you traveled to China in the last 14 days! (sarcasm)

Most likely a lot of tourism around the world will end up being hit hard by coronavirus until we manage to get it under control.
Im certainly not leaving the country and returning only to find the .gov has extended my vacation by 14 days, and my hotel room is likely WWII barracks at some ****hole post!

he Lombardy region has 39 coronavirus cases with another 12 cases in the Veneto, regional officials said in a press conference Saturday in Milan. Most of the cases are in the Codogno area, 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Milan. A woman who was found dead in her home subsequently tested positive, the health secretary said. Earlier, three tourists in Rome were diagnosed with the virus.

Italy up to 54 cases now.Seems they update almost hours at this point.

In the country, hopefully.
Yes it will. The death rate in 1918 10-20% with only 1/3 of the population infected.

WHO is saying this will infect up to 70%
The death rate is hovering between 7-11%(not per WHO per Lancet study and others.)
Average time from ICU admission to death 7 days.Mind you this is with an over whelmed medical system with many of those in ICU having been turned away from medical care many times for lack of room.

It is going to get bad.But we will survive as a species.

Is this 70% infection rate just in a "hot zone" area or is that a worldwide number?

Anyone notice the lack of cases reported on the real time maps in South America, Africa below the Mediterranean coastal nations and majority of India?

Areas that lack extensive proper medical care and are poor regions. Who else besides myself is waiting for the shoe to drop in these regions and see a huge increase in reported cases
in the next 30-45 days?

This has the potential to really head south in a hurry in more populated, less income producing areas that don't have the resources or ability to keep up with
increased cases being reported.

How the spread is happening across China and the western Asian continent could be a prominent indicator of the rise of cases being reported in the
near future in these regions.

I'm fearful only the tip of the iceberg is showing and will hit us like a ban hammer on a newb racing to his 50 post freedom run. Time will only tell and be the real indicator
of just how serious this will become and effect us all.

I thought I read that with the arrival of summer here the infection rate would go down. Similar to flu. Maybe that's a factor? Or the magical invisible equatorial wall to the sky?

Is this 70% infection rate just in a "hot zone" area or is that a worldwide number?

Prof Gabriel Leung, the chair of public health medicine at Hong Kong University, said the overriding question was to figure out the size and shape of the iceberg. Most experts thought that each person infected would go on to transmit the virus to about 2.5 other people. That gave an “attack rate” of 60-80%.
“Sixty per cent of the world’s population is an awfully big number,” Leung told the Guardian in London, en route to an expert meeting at the WHO in Geneva on Tuesday.

They also have the RO still below 3,when the reality is 4.3-6.6 according to US papers(Los Almos paper,i posted earlier in this thread). So likely to be more.

The WHO came out and said while yes it is true, but ONLY if it is not contained.
https://www.usnews.com/news/world-r...onavirus-could-infect-60-of-global-population
I think we are starting to see how contained this is...or rather lack of it being contained.
The CDC is not even bothering to test anyone without a travel history to China.
There is likely already massive spread in places like California.Especially since the USA guideline for quarantine is still 14 days, with many other countries increasing that to 24 days already.Case after case(even in the USA) people have left a 14 day quarantine only to be positive up to a week later....after having been out in public for a week.

Italy now recommending 28 day quarantines.

Every paper published in NEJM in the USA.

If you would like to read information.

Some are still not peer reviewed, but many are.
I have read every actual scientific paper I have found on the topic.

Sadly things do not look like this will stop.It honestly looks like the medical system may get over run,not for a week or month, but years.
