    In the country, hopefully.
    (snipped)

I may stop posting about coronavirus.
I think it is way beyond to late for much to be done but to protect yourself and your family as best you can.
Do whatever you want but I for one have appreciated your posts and updates. Trying to sort through the hype vs fact is so hard these days and you seem to bring a levelheadedness and non-agenda info that is refreshing.

I was in Lowes last night. They didn't have any. Not really a surprise, the most I think I've seen on the shelf is like 3 boxes anyway. It probably isn't hard to find three people (or maybe one based upon previous 22LR sales) willing to buy up the entire stock.

I'm guessing until Covid-19 fades from the news-cycle (whenever that might be) you won't be able to find any.
I cant believe the number of "preppers" who didn't even have a supply of basic n95 masks and rushed out to order or buy some.
Just like when a gun panic happens and everyone realizes they need ammo and mags.

Like all things, preppers come in varying degrees.

I'm currently working on becoming prepper medium (actually I have no quantitative data to determine what this means). Thankfully I already had a box of N95 masks, but that was because of woodworking activities.

If it was preppers invading Lowes they weren't serious ones. The 3M respirators and filters were still plentiful.

In that case it's even more ridiculous since you don't need to wear a mask to protect yourself from the virus.
Just like with any virus the best protection is to use hand sanitizer and wash your hands several times a day.

There's no use wearing a mask if you don't also wear gloves and eye protection (if you're in contact with sick people), if you keep touching your mask with your dirty gloves or bare hands, don't change the mask every 2 hours etc.

There's more to it that just owning the stuff.

Just like buying a gun doesn't make you a marksman, buying masks doesn't make you an infectious disease specialist.

It just sucks for people who really need to find masks (contractors and such), they can't find them anywhere.

I have kept a good 3m mask under the driver seat for years. Hand sanitizer should be for when you can't use soap and water.

A bit of a long read but related to COVID-19 and the power of Digitalpolitik. Discusses the control of digital information/misinformation now and in the future.

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/02/1...-pushes-states-quarantine-online-information/

As digital technologies blur the boundaries around jurisdiction, influence, and state power, we’ll likely see governments and platforms develop a host of surveillance tools, legal authorities, and public-private partnerships to inform the response.”
