More from the total chaos at the airport. Several dead in a crowd stampede at the terminal. A few people tried to stow away in the wheelwells of a C17 and ended up going splat on local rooftops. An Apache was sweeping the runway with the rotor wash to try to clear people so the planes could take off.

I would think a C-17 could take off even if the tarmac surface was a little "squishy". Might be a bit cold and heartless, kind of like driving a semi tractor through people "peacefully" protesting on an interstate. But if you fear for your life and are in an S-Hole country/US city you do what you have to do.

Why was any of that equipment left in one piece?

They were still delivering helicopters in the last few weeks....I would like to see a link claiming the equipment is out of US possession though. Only seeing it here, but wife is in surgery so somewhat preoccupied

Part of this is what happens when news is profit driven. Having reporters is expensive. Having international reporters is even more expensive. Having reporters in danger is expensive and bad PR. So they don't have reporters. They have repeaters. They buy stories from somewhere like the AP or local sources or just sift social media and repeat. Kind of like meteorologists vs weathermen. The second is cheaper but is just repeating information.

Given that the news was already profit-driven when Dan Rather was a plebe, and NPR was caught slack-jawed as anybody ("Check This Interactive Map of Where you Need to Mask Indoors!"), it's hard to fathom the point of this, unless it's just some kind of protest against the concept of profit.

The news was never not profit-driven. They just have more competitors now. The reasons for which are pretty obvious and insolvable.

For sure. Think they're just trying to avoid killing more people than absolutely necessary. Clearly a complete failure of security at the airport, imagine if the Taliban had a suicide bomber or two in that mob.

Might be harder than normal to get volunteers for suicide bombings, when “fighters” think they’re going to get a 15-year old girl or a still fertile sub-45 year old widow in the next several weeks.

We really never should have been trying to remake Afghanistan into a "democracy."

Shameful there's no plan in place to evacuate Afghanis who helped us.

Refugees in the United States cannot vote.
Refugees must be permanent residents for at least 5 years before applying for citizenship.

In any event, what about Afghan refugees turned US citizens would make you think that they would "vote blue?"

With ”politically correct” software, not only can they “vote blue” if they become US citizens; they don’t even have to physically exist to “vote blue”.
