Sure, if it will be a place to start a reasonable discussion

    1. More stringent background checks focusing on mental health and domestic violence.
    2. Very high tax on specific ammunition. However, no tax if bought and used at a shooting range, for instance.

Like I said previously, I don't know what the solution is. I just think that we need to come up with one. Continuing to be nonplussed is no longer working
Like I said previously, gun owners are gun owners’ worst enemy! Whose ammunition gets the very high tax, as if 11% +7% sales tax isn’t enough?

    .
Just received an email from our school superintendent reassuring their safety policies and provided a link to learn more about the ALICE procedure that is in place. Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.

Tired of seeing the "shelter in place" protocol. They should just call it what it is - "Wait Your Turn".

When hasn't one of these mass shooters/terrorists been on the Fed's radar? Seems par for the course.

I'm always fascinated by these criticisms. Investigations come down to pretty much two things when moving forward... credibility and manpower. If you take the ridiculous amount of "tip" volume that the FBI gets, and cross-reference that with credibility and available manpower, people would think differently. The Feds simply don't have the ability to thoroughly check every single complaint they get.

Strangely, more and more issues with the FBI. Maybe they aren't the stellar agency all are so quick to credit them with?

Of course they don't. Just like county governments don't have bottomless pockets to put deputies and metal detectors in every school. Just like you're simply not going to get dependable retired LEOs or former service folks to volunteer on a regular/dependable basis to stand guard at every school. Or any of the other well intentioned ideas for preventing these tragedies I've heard.

We keep looking to government solutions and none of them are going to be all that effective.

    As for the ammunition tax.

Maybe look up what happened to Chicago's ammunition tax.

    Then look up "Poll Tax"

Of course, you could look up Seattle's ammunition tax, and notice it still stands.
But then you'd maybe notice the amount of money they've spent on challenges, and are still spending.

It looks like most here are going with sticking fingers in your ears and hoping the problem goes away.

    Columbine - "Lalalalalalala - can't hear you"
Sandy Hook - "Lalalalalala - still can't hear you"

    and on down the list

Just saying, that the 2018 mid terms are set to be a blood bath for republicans. You may want to be part of the solution or continue to be seen as part of the problem. Gun control laws WILL be inacted, and they WILL be upheld based on Heller - Don't misconstrue Heller as a sweeping claim for the 2nd ammendment rights. Even the majority opinion went to great lengths to include that the right keep and bear arms is not absolute, and gun ownership should be considered for the main purpose of home defense.

There are reasonable measures that reasonable people can discuss. There are also measures that can be reasonably pointed out have no discernible positive outcome such as banning a class of weapons based on 'it looks scary'.

Maybe there should be a significant tax on various ammunition. Maybe we should let mental health professionals report problemed people with guns to the local police?

And after those events, people predicted dire events.
We were told to sacrifice something, to prevent it from being worse.

And those events didn't happen, except New Yorks SAFE act, and Connecticut assault weapon bill.
    But nationwide, nada.

    Notes from Rush:

Shooter has transformed in the MSM from Latino to White Hispanic over night.
Some white nationalist group is claiming shooter as a member.

Did MSM specifically refer to the shooter as Latino? That's a bit presumptuous. Neverminding the fact that Latinos can be black, white, and even Asian. Given that many people don't understand this, a clarification of "white Hispanic" would solve the confusion since he is associated with white nationalists.
