Please give us an update Cowboy1629 after you get out with it. I am interested in your thoughts.

Ive always been a true 1911 fan. I have tried and owned several of the polymer guns, wanting the higher capacity and lighter weight but never felt a connection to them.

When Bill came out with the EDC X9 this year I said "I have to have one" but really wanted to feel it in my hand before ordering. I was lucky enough to tour Wilson's factory in Berryville this past May where I got to see them being made as well as handle the finished product. At the end of the day I placed my order for one. The next day on the range I got to shoot with both Bill Wilson and Ken Hackathorn as well as some of the Wilson shooting team. Both Bill and Ken had their new X9's there for us to try.

I thought the gun handled well and was easy to shoot. This was the first high capacity compact carry gun I have ever handled that I felt had a soul.

Fast forward to now I have put close to 700 rounds through it with mostly 124 and 147 grain hanloaded ammo as well as some 115, 124, and 147gr self defense ammo without any malfunctions what so ever. Some of this has been slow fire on targets for accuracy and some for speed drills. Have not had the opportunity to shoot in competition yet but I'm sure it will do its part.

As as far as carry, it is lighter than my normal 1911 single stack .45 and conceals just as well even with the slightly wider grip. The overall size is real close to a G19 and weighs about 6oz more on my scale.

I think the X9 is a great hybrid between a high quality 1911 and a high capacity polymer gun.

Let me know if there is anything else I can answer about it.

That's great feedback! I thought it looked a little wider. Glad to hear it's been reliable.

I would assume the accuracy is there? (More the norm now-days).

    I must say, she's a looker!

Oh yeah, is the light-rail optional? I think it is, but...

    Thanks again!

I was in not too long ago and Indiana Gun Club had 2-3 of them if you haven't seen one yet.

    Man that things sexy!
Can you explain what "minimal ball cut" and "relieved bottom of slide" means?
I love how every gun that comes out of Allen's shop is different and unique but, when you look at them you can see his "style" in each one. Does that make sense? I have 3 that he's done and love them, I'm trying to figure out which one I want to send him next.

If you look along the top of the racking serrations you will see a ledge. It will be more pronounced on the one I have on the bench to assemble.
The relief (for lack of a better description) is along the bottom of the slide. He relieves the square edge of the slide.
There is also a cut under the slide to reduce the resistance of the disconnecter during cycling.
