Help me pick out a bolt action rifle

I didn't see that you said which caliber you settled on with your Ruger American. I am guessing you went with .223. I have one and like it better the more I shoot it. We spent the day last Saturday shooting out to 200 yards. I found mine really likes Hornady 75 grain ammunition. I am...

      Attempted Kidnapping?

This has been on Facebook last week, and police indicate it is a hoax. No such report made to Owensboro police, and no one at the Sam's store have any knowledge of such an incident.

The Walking Dead Thread - Part 2

Surely Abraham is going to encounter that guy soon and ask "How's it hangin'?"

I need to put a cat out of its misery

I learned that as a farm kid 50 some years ago. Hog cholera, a now eradicated disease, swept our area. Dad's small herd became ill, and he called a vet out to confirm a diagnosis. The vet needed to post several sick hogs that were nearly ready for market. He selected a piece of 2" pipe with a...

      Need legal recommendation. Serious!

You might consider keeping those kids close at hand , as in at home, for a few days until things settle out. I know of a situation where a Saudi father secretly took his boys away from their mother a couple of years ago, and they haven't got them back yet.

      Dog Attack, Carroll County

A couple who live across the road from one of our pastures had a young pit bull. They loved the thing. It played with their small house dog and their toddler grandchild. Knowing the true nature of the beast, I was always prepared to kill it if I found it after our cattle. One day the house...

      Cattle.... Upcreek

The numbers being talked about here are for confined feeding operations, and have nothing at all to do with cattle on pasture. The amount of forage produced and the management system limits the number of cattle per acre in a pasture situation. Cattle density varies quite a bit over differing...

      Cattle.... Upcreek

Just kind of points out the fact that any rural landowner who sells land to a city dweller richly deserves tar and feathers.

      Suspicious encounter this morning.

Ok, I know I live in a completely different world from many of you on INGO, but please explain the idea of never answering a knock on your door? If someone is at my door, I intend to find out what his business is. Over the years, one early morning knock was a little boy whose house was on...

My friends daughter is getting married.....37 years difference in age.

A rich old man, and she won't have to worry. She'll dress up all in lace and go in style.

      Tell me about that scar...

I count ten still visible. Five before high school. First when I was about 4 and apparently let my younger brother try to shave me, like in the cowboy movies. It is still there, just not as prominent as it once was. One is an altered thumbprint from when a sixth grade science project with a...

Ex-CNN anchor Lynn Russell’s husband wounded in deadly shootout with gunman

I read they stayed at the Motel 6 because that chain allows pets.

Damon Bailey: The kid that filled the Hoosier Dome

One thing I found remarkable was the post game interview with Bailey after the championship game. As excited as he had to be, with every sentence Bailey deflected attention from himself and heaped praise on his team mates. That attitude had play a big part in their success as a team.

      Indiana gun laws in 1975

Kirk, I don't know what license he had. I believe he said he was returning from college in Virginia at the time. I took him to mean that possessing a loaded firearm in a vehicle was prohibited, license or not. He said he had a breakdown on his way home with his wife and child. He removed...

      Indiana gun laws in 1975

A video I recently viewed made a few statements about Indiana gun laws in 1975. Can anyone tell me if these statements would have been true then? 1. The speaker stated that it was illegal at that time to have a loaded firearm in the passenger compartment of a vehicle. I am not sure what...

Doc, I am so sorry. We, too will pray for your family.

      Carry while wearing overalls

Probably I didn't state that so clearly. In winter there isn't a need to button the sides as a coat covers the gun. In warm weather drawing from the buttoned up overalls is not a problem. One of our farms is on a dead end road with an unbelievable amount of traffic, apparently some being...

      Carry while wearing overalls

With the Serpa holster, how does it hold up with the weight of the firearm? That could be an easy fix. I guess I am not quite sure what you are asking. Essentially, a good belt and the Blackhawk holster keep the gun at your waist, same as if you were open carrying, only you have a pair...

      Carry while wearing overalls

I wear overalls year around and carry a Glock 17 in a Blackhawk Serpa holster. I wear light shorts with a belt under the overalls. Button up the sides, and no one will know you are carrying. If you then believe a situation calls for it, you can unbutton for easy access.

      Mini 14 Owners

I have six twenty round Pro Mags for my Mini, and they seem to function just as well as the 5 round Ruger. I am satisfied with my rifle's accuracy out to 400 yards.
