Never carry without testing weapon and specific ammo.
A friend purchased NIB 9mm and had all sorts of issues. Returned to vendor and exchanged for same model different gun. No problems.

I have a PM9 and the trigger is long like you described yours. It took me a few extra trips to the range to get used to it, but I made the sacrifice :D. I love it now.
