Any other Military Surplus rifle collectors out here?

M1 Carbine with a new barrel from DGR in TN... shoots wonderfully!

      M1 Garand

Here is a modern Springfield that I let go of a couple of years back... Still have several others though. Here is a 1944 Springfield, with a decent 9-44 barrel! ... and the with a marked stock too! Now if I can find a M1A to replace that first Garand I let go...

      Handgun Show-N-Tell

Have to second TheJoker... The S&W 52's are glassy smooth pistols! One of my favorites to take out on the range.

      Wheel Gun Show-N-Tell

The ones closest to the front of the safe, the rest are too camera shy.

      Long Gun Show and Tell

This is a work in process... ... but the loader is as much fun as the gun! (Wish I owned both of these and not just the one!)

Marlin Camp Carbine (45acp)... can you look at your bolt face?

Anybody else have a Marlin Camp Carbine in .45ACP for comparison? (or even in 9mm?) Can you take a look at the bolt face and compare it to mine in the pictures below. Here is an up close look at the bolt face. The bulge in the fired primer seems to be created from the champfer in the bolt...

      Useful Rifle ?

For a "first rifle" I would get the Ruger 10-22. Save up for something else once you figure out what you want.

      M1A?

I would go with the 22"... but I am looking for long range target shooting. ... I already have shorter stuff to swing around inside the house!

      Your wish list

Ruger SR1911 - just because. M1A to shoot distance with.

Revolver suggestions- I have some in mind...

If you are looking for a good, solid first revolver - I would vote to go Ruger... even a used Security Six will likely outlast you and your kids. I picked up a couple in solid shape to pack on the tractor out in the fields. Ground hogs do not stand a chance now!

      Smallest Handgun you carry

Phoenix .22 ... Better than throwing my keys at them!

      Would You Trade a GP100 for AK47

I would keep the Security Six pistols... but I would also keep the GP100 too... Why get an AK when you could get a M1 Garand?! If your dead set on trading - why do't you put the 6's up for sale here on INGO and let us fight over them?

      Best 1911 under 1K?

I have a couple and working on another. All shoot great and will not trade or sell any 1911 - but I will continue to buy them as I can. My first was the Ithaca 50th anniversary model - picked up in 1996, actually made by Kimber before they started making Kimber pistols. My second was a...

What is your next "Want" (not need) gun?

M1A - w/ all USGI parts (except the receiver unfortunately).
    17. FordBronco

      M1 Garand

... Oh, and if you see something you want - purchase it! It will not be there the next time you go and it will be too late! Had my hands on about 6 "Field Grade" Garands with "new" spec barrels on my first trip and did not bring them home - should have. Still kicking myself for that one!

      M1 Garand

Make sure you meet the Eligibility Requirements before you drive up... you do not want to be up there, at the counter to pay and not be able to finish the deal. Check the website for info: Eligibility Requirements Joining GCA (Garand Collectors Association) will meet the club requirement.

CMP Garands- 2 arrivals at the door

It is always a fun trip to Camp Perry and the North CMP Store. I always try to leave with something new from there - even if it is just a T-shirt or hat. I prefer leaving with Ammo and rifles though! Join GCA (Grand Collectors Association) and meet the rest of the requirements and go! CMP...

Recommend a good looking, $700 or less first revolver

My vote would be to look at the Rugers... either the Security Six or a GP100. Best guns for the money (my 2-cents worth anyway). I like my Security-Six very much - both of them! S&W, Colt, Ruger all make good quality guns... I have different likes and dislikes for all of them. However...
