    Service Grade SA

    Hey guys,

Here is a Service Grade that I just picked up today. Stock is certainly brand new and the muzzle measured almost 0. I was pondering buying a Special until we saw this on the rack. Gotta give a shoutout to the camerawoman for accompanying me on the horrendous drive!:rockwoot:

Now who can tell some simple things to squeeze a little accuracy out of it? I am going to handload for it and have the Schuster gas plug.

They have some there that are already converted to .308. More incentive for a trip.

I saw they had barreled actions and then the $1000 rifle. If was gonna fork out that kinda dough I would buy a 30-06 Garand and just have it rebarreled with a 308 barrel and still be money ahead which is what I plan on doing.

That right there is what I'm looking for! How much do they get for a Service Grade rifle like that? Congratulations on a beautiful machine there!

If you are interested in going, just post here and then PM me in late December, or we can just start a new thread then. We'll pick a solid date in February then.

I figure we leave on Friday evening and get a ways up the road, stopping for a nice dinner and a hotel. Maybe find a place for a couple beers. Then, we'll make the rest of the way to the store on Saturday morning, and find us some nice rifles. Then, we come home, sleeping in our own beds on Saturday night. Of course, it will be hard not to bundle up and go out and shoot on Sunday, but I'll probably sit by the fire and give mine a good cleaning.

Can anyone speak to the quantity of good rifles at any given time there? I'd hate to get 6 or 8 guys up there and there be only a few good ones. Chime in, because I have no clue what to expect.

There really are a lot of rifles there right now. There were ~20 service grades and who knows how many more in the back.

They have BB guns, kimber .22 target rifles, barreled receivers. I think that's all I saw.

Oh and I forgot they have 30 cal "test" guns or whatever they're appropriately called. They're very thick bull barrels mounted an 03 receiver. Pretty cool.

What else do they have besides Garands?

When I was there, besides whats listed above, they had some bayonets, slings, CMP shirts & hats, ammo, shooting jackets and a few otheer small things.

I went to get the Kimber 82G target rifles. No way they last till feb. I doubt they last till thanksgiving.

They also had Navy BR 308's at about 1000 dollars, the Daisy BB guns, Springfield 6 million series rifles with NM barrels (If you look hard), Model 52c barreled actions, Annie barrels, Redfield olymipic and international peep sights, CMP Swag, it is basically all available on the web sight.

Basically everyday what they have in stock will change and when I was there more that 100 of the Kimbers rolled into the civilian market. One guy purchased 18 of them himself for a gun club.

18 rifles at 425 each plus tax. $8185.50 and he paid in cash.

Those are great looking rifles. Tough to beat the prices on those, you really make me want to jump on the CMP bandwagon with those pics...

It is always a fun trip to Camp Perry and the North CMP Store. I always try to leave with something new from there - even if it is just a T-shirt or hat. I prefer leaving with Ammo and rifles though!

Join GCA (Grand Collectors Association) and meet the rest of the requirements and go!

Now get to it and go get one (or two)! Rifle Sales - M1 Garand

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make the trip in February. My youngest son just spent a week in the hospital after a series of seizures, and some sizable bills are on the way. I'm still hoping to get up there, but it just won't be until I get caught up financially. I'm hoping there won't be some dumb executive order restricting Garands before I get one.

I hope you guys are still able to get together and get up there. I could probably still go, but it would kill me not to be able to buy one, so I'll probably pass until later.

Most importantly, my boy is doing well and has a good prognosis.

And that says it all, my friend. Keep us informed, OK? At least we can bring you back a t-shirt or something. :)

Garands should be a national birth right.....

"Congratulations on the birth of your son, here is his Garand."

Daughters would have choice between M1 Garand and M1 Carbine.
