It's always pretty amazing how still the fawns will stay. They try to utilize their camouflage as their main defense. If they don't think you've actually seen them they won't move, and sometimes I've found even when they know you have it's like they pretend you haven't if you're not doing...
I'm guessing you are asking about the Mylar type space blankets?
Not really a keep in your pocket item but I keep one of these in each of my vehicles.
Rothco G.I. O.D. Casualty Blanket:Amazon:Sports & Outdoors
I also bought a cheap 10 pack of Mylar blankets off of Amazon that have been decent...
I have to throw in another recommendation for lights out and one second after. I just started the 299 series but so far it's been pretty good. I read Alas Babylon back in middle school and it along with having grandparents who grew up in the Great Depression are what got me interested and...
I've found the thrift stores to usually be a good deal on cast iron cookware as well. Generally needs cleaned up and reseasoned but I've gotten quite a few skillets there for just a couple bucks.
The physical security of the power grid has always been a joke. Coming from having worked in it for awhile it wouldn't be very hard to black out a city. In the day and age we live in it's not only the physical security of the infrastructure we have to be worried about but also its...
Believe I've seen it covered before but it is possible to use fish antibiotics in place of what you'd be prescribed. However, I have heard some horror stories on this so do your research beforehand and decide for yourself. As an individual allergic to most common antibiotics I've found your body...
Surprised I didn't see more people list bows of one type or another. I'd have to go with either my crossbow or an old fiberglass longbow that has been around my family forever. If it had to come down to hand to hand would have to go with either my RTAK or Ka-bar otherwise improvise with an axe...
I bought a Ruger Single Six new about a week and a half ago and the pistol has been pretty inaccurate to say the least talking all over a standard sheet of paper target at 25 yards not really grouping at all. I've tried CCI Blazers, Stingers, and Remington bulk pack all to the same results. It's...
I like my TLR-1's. I currently have two and have had no problems with either one. I had a Surefire X300 that quit working on me and I have it rigged now so it still works but not really my first choice anymore. I've looked at the TLR-2 but can't really justify the extra cost just for the laser.
Bought myself a Gen 4 21 to go with the other Glocks today. If the weather is nice I'll try and get out to shoot it tomorrow. As an unofficial test it was drilling walnuts at about 23 yards tonight with the rain, my TLR-1 for light, and firing Ultramax Ammunition so not too shabby. Here are some...
If I have to bug out I have my parents' farm and also an even larger farm belonging to my uncle or a smaller farm belonging to my grandpa in Northern Indiana. If for some reason those locations are compromised I'll have to either try for my families cabin in Alabama or my brother's house in Florida.
Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like he's actually decided to sell a different property because he feels bad about cutting my lease short since I had it rented till next August. So it looks like I'll have a roof over my head for awhile longer yet. However, I think I'm going to go ahead with...
Well I'm getting married October 10th. So it will be a wife and myself. Already discussed the situation with her and she is all for it. The old house is actually the house she was born in and spent the first ten years of her life in. If it wasn't for the roof having already caved in on it in...
So after living out of a tent for the summer and finally starting to rent a house I found out today that the landlord is going to have to sell the house due to the economy and that I have at a minimum one month to get out maybe longer. Well instead of renting again I have three options to have...
Already on the list under Elletsville but some more info for those who are interested.
The Bloomington Amateur Radio club and Indiana University ARC will be hosting Field Day in Flatwoods Park Shelter 1, which is approximately 2 miles west of Elletsville on Flatwoods Road. Operations will start...
I've hiked the Knobstone trail several times now. The worst time I've hiked it was when I decided to hike it south to north and then turn around and hike back down south in five days. I can say that it was one of the hardest trail experiences I have had, twenty mile+ days on the Knobstone are...
