      American Sniper

I rarely go to movies, but have tickets with my grandsons this evening. Wonder if anyone will ever say the name "Jesse Ventura" without adding "that POS"? Of course, I think he deserves that designation regardless of whether or not he had a confrontation with Chris Kyle.

Is it bad if corn isn't harvested by now?

Generally speaking, we have a huge yield this year. That means a lot more grain to harvest , haul, dry, and store. I wouldn't be too concerned, as it is still November. There is still a fair amount of corn to be harvested yet across the corn belt.

For the last two years I have had the strangest urge to.........................

We bought our first combine in 1977 because the fall was too wet to pull our picker. It was a used Gleaner K without heater or AC. We had to run a lot of corn that year on frozen ground. I would get to bed around 2AM, and when I got up the next morning my legs would still be cold to the...

      The Walking Dead.

I guess the trip to DC is off. Darn. I was hoping the group would get to DC and have to deal with some prominent liberal anti gun walkers. Pelosi likely wouldn't even need makeup.

You don't suppose Cullen is going to hear scratching from inside that casket before he gets it covered up?

I carry because Obama and Bloomberg think I ought not carry.

Found a wierd rock. INGOers want to help with ID? millstone ? lots of pics

I've never seen a stone gear in old mills, but that sure looks like what it is. I wouldn't think a stone to stone set of gears would last long. Perhaps the gear this one meshed with was made of wood? The square hole in the center not going all the way through makes me think it is a mill stone...

Killer Pig Virus Wipes Out More Than 10 Percent Of Nation's Hogs

I dealt with TGE, another diarrhea disease that is deadly to baby pigs many years ago. It is a miserable experience. At that time, the only way to deal with it was to grind up the dead piglets and feed them to the pregnant sows some weeks before they gave birth. That gave the sows the...

      Question about dogs

Ever read the comments from pit bull owners on a news story about a pit bull attack? Read a few and I think my appraisal will stand up. Actually about a year ago on INGO a pit bull owner strongly suggested I should be killed if I took action against the pit bulls that killed a calf.

      Question about dogs

And there we we see the typical pit bull owner's attitude. My damn dog is more important than your kid or property.

      Question about dogs

I want to point out virtually every time a pit bull kills a child, the owner moans about what a"gentle, loving creature" the beast was. There have been several maulings and killings by pit bulls this spring. I don't live in the city, but the next pass the dog made at me or my kids would be his...

      What would YOU do?

While a lot of little Johnnies can be traced to poor upbringing, don't automatically jump to that conclusion. There are plenty of little Johnnies out there who are raised right, have siblings who are upright citizens, and can't or won't do right. Some finally straighten up and others never do...

      Mudding and witnesses

My view: As long as it is ok for me to cut doughnuts on your front lawn, kick in your front door and take a whiz on your living room floor, then it is fine for you to mud on my land. Otherwise, you have no business there.

Officer en route to Gander Mountain

My wife was having problems with geese attacking staff and visitors at work. I suggested placing a stalking coyote decoy on the lot. It worked like a charm ,until a groundskeeper, apparently thinking it was placed there as a joke, threw it away. My wife said it was quite amusing watching some...

      Who doesn't OC and why?

I guess my reason is more a practical matter than a matter of principle. I find in my line of work When OC ing, my firearm tends to hang up on obstructions when climbing in and out and under machinery. Also the gun tends to stay cleaner when working around livestock.

If you saw this guy, would you shoot him?

As the second shooting occurred in 1998, it is possible the officer didn't have access to a taser. In that case waiting and issuing too many warnings cost a 22 year old deputy his life. The first case is pretty tough. Knowing in advance it is a cane, it is pretty easy to tell it is. I am not...

      What was I dreaming about?!

When I come in for the evening, my G17 goes in an inexpensive metal gun case. Locked, but with the key left in the lock. At night, I set it on the nightstand the same way. I figure I can quickly access the weapon, yet be sure I am wide awake when I do so. Whenever there are kids in the house...
