On Monday I am taking a coworked to the range for her first time shooting a gun. I'm excited for her and nervous for me. I'm pretty sure I'll be an OK teacher. I've read several articles with tips on taking a new shooter to the range, so I feel pretty prepared. I'll let you know how she does!
I've got a cheap Uncle Mikes IWB for my 9mm. It's been good to me for the first few months of carrying. By using an inexpensive (seriously, like $10!) one for a while, I now know what I am looking for in a holster. Let her carry for a while in a cheapy so she will know what she needs/wants in...
I LOVE the cornered cat website. I actually gave that link to a friend of mine this week. I am taking her to the range for her first time on Monday and I told her to read a few of the articles on there first. I told her I wouldn't let her touch my gun (she doesn't have her own, yet) until she...
we have a 410 that belongs to his older brother, it's just too big for him still. We might let him shoot it this summer with a bench rest-type of setup though... we'll see. He kind of wants "his" own, not to borrow his brother's. If I can find one for a good deal, I might surprise him.
No pics or vids. Right now he's got a jr bow and arrow set he's shot a few times, 3 arrow was a bullseye! I let him shoot that in the front yard with styrofoam blocks. He has shot our little daisy bb gun with good accuracy, but he's not strong enough yet to cock it all the way. We might let...
While leaving the store with my little guy, he climbed up on the grocery cart in front of me, holding the handle and leaning back onto my chest/stomach (everyone's got a mental picture of this, right?)
As he hopped down from where he was, he nudged his head against my appendix-carried 9mm...
Update!
Got the bag for my birthday and I LOVE it!! It's not too big, but it's big enough for my stuff. It seems to be made pretty well, but I might add some elastic to hold a few extra mags, there isn't a dedicated mag space. I'll post pics when I can.

when I was a kid, I would go out with friends and ALWAYS run into someone my parents knew (not sure if it was on purpose or not!). That's what it means by "it takes a village" You better believe if I was acting like an idiot when my parents weren't around, there was someone who was gonna tell...
There is a good sticky about this at the top of the forum :

Have you let her shoot a BB gun yet? That would be a good baby step.
I should (hopefully) get the bag next weekend, so I'll let you know. I'm still pretty new to shooting, so I'm sure I'll have more stuff down the road, but I think this should hold me for a few years.
does it do this when you release/replace the mag with the safety off? I'm just thinking that the safety might be preventing the mag from going all the way in. my 709 doesn't do that.
There is a group called A Girl and A Gun that have an Indiana chapter.

They are looking for someone who might be interest in leading a central indiana chapter.
just a suggestion, but if you intend to have several different guns, get a cleaning kit that will work for several different types of guns, not just one or two.
Also, wouldn't be a bad idea to buy a box of rubber gloves to wear during cleaning. Those fluids can sting if you have a paper cut...
I started my research for my handgun back in Sept, so I knew what kind of price range was reasonable for the gun and ammo, but I hadn't checked out pricing for the extra magazines.
Can anyone tell me what would be a reasonable, non-panic, price range for a magazine for a Taurus pt709 (9mm)...
As I explained to my 6 year old, I carry a gun in case a bad guy wants to hurt me or somebody that I love.
That should be simple enough for even a politician to understand.
Actually, DNR has the following info on their page:

At the first session, everyone under 18 years of age must give the...
