    Training for what?

    Training for their jobs.

DHS is 200K employees. Look at the TO&E of DHS:

What do you see? FLETC? What do they do there? Name a famous person(s) in the gun culture was there and shot mountains of ammo there?

See Customs? Do they shoot a bunch there?

See INS Enforcement? Do you think they shoot a bunch there?

See Secret Service? Surely you know they shoot tons of ammo at Secret Service, right?

See the USCG? We got vets of USCG right here at INGO. Ask them if they shoot at USCG (gunner's mates especially). What pistol is USCG issued? Right, the SIG229. What caliber is that?

Yet the military, in combat, only shoots an average of 70M rounds of all kinds per year. I'll bet they shoot a lot too. The numbers don't add up.

I'm not saying I know why they have ordered so much freakin' ammo, and the most recent post is admittedly only conjecture. If someone wants to brand me a "tin hat" fine...but IMO there is more going on than meets the eye.

Remember there are several INGO USCG veterans that you speak of.

I have no problem with the legitimate functions of government which inlcude, INS, Border Patrol, USSS or the Coast Guard. So they have 450M rounds of pistol ammo available to order. So what?

Just who is going into combat with a pistol? I mean besides Call of Duty or Firefly.

There is always the other alternative that they anticipate costs to continue rising and therefore have procured enough to last for the next two generations of normal use.

OK, Carmel, what are they doing then?

I've already said I don't know. No one in authority seems to be coming forward saying "don't worry, we always purchase this much ammunition at one time..." or some such thing.

Perhaps they are stockpiling for future operations. Perhaps they are trying to take ammunition out of the marketplace. Perhaps they are preparing for something nefarious. Time will tell.

They have not purchased 450M. It is the max that they have reserved under the contract.

Perhaps they are stockpiling for future operations.

Perhaps they are preparing to fight zombies, or reverse vampires.

This is like The Simpsons episode where the kids are trying to figure out where their parents are all going in the middle of the day after trying Grandpa Simpson's love potion.
