    It's .45 caliber poetry.

Besides, the last time at the range shooting my Springfield, the guy in the next lane came over and wanted to know what I was shooting because he felt the concussion in his sinuses. :D

Alright, the 1911 is a tried and true design that has a mass quantity of parts, OEM and aftermarket. With some basic knowledge you can upgrade your firearm with some better bushings for the barrel etc to improve the accuracy, magazines are cheap and plentiful and they have some actual good looks to them IMHO. To the thread starter, I've never shot a 9mm variant but the .38 super 9x23, basically a longer 9mm which is a 9x19, are very accurate though usually high dollar. The 1911 is the classic .45 ACP.

It fits my hand and has the perfect grip angle to be a natural pointer.

The slim profile makes it easy to conceal despite it being full sized.

The trigger is amazing, and the safety is easy and intuitive to deactivate to gain access to that sweet, sweet trigger.

Fastest way to 9 shots on a very small target for me, out of a pistol. And those shots are all .45ACP. Conceals easily and well. Can get to 17 shots on a very small target with one reload, and if I need more than that I'm going to wish I brought a rifle.

If I could find a gun as ergonomic as the 1911 that was more modern, I'd consider selling ALL of my 1911s.

Until then, I'll continue to be astounded that there have been few meaningful innovations in handgun designs in 100 years.
