These things are just an open excuse to act like idiots. Nothing gets changed except that LEO has a much harder time keeping order.
    Maybe that is the intent.

Some rich socialists want a one-world, borderless, socialist government. But those pesky Westerners who cling to obsolete ideas need to have their ideals crushed first.

All those faces on video, published in the local newspaper and no one has been arrested? For those unaware, that street is the main east/west route through Bloomington.

We really need to stop this :poop::poop::poop::poop:.

As I heard it on the radio they are looking to find the driver and arrest him.......Yes, he should not have done this but damn it.......clear the streets when these things go south.

Arrest for what? Me, I'd be in fear for my life, justifying deadly force use. Way easier with a car than a gun even. Your right to protest ends when you restrict another's right.

The protester's were in the wrong granted.
The motorist is supposed to yield to pedestrians.

    2 wrongs.

    Could be anywhere
I liked the law in the old FRG when I was there, if you were a pedestrian and you either weren't in a cross walk or walking when the light said any damage to a vehicle would be paid by you.

If they had attacked the vehicle first, not just impeded its progress, I could see the self defense argument.

A pedestrian would be someone travelling/walking like walking across the road or alongside the road, right? Do these people meet that description?

Odd they are students against violence, while beating on a vehicle in a threatening way.

Is there not an ordinance against blocking a roadway? If not why do we have sidewalks? Why not just walk in the middle of the road?

Could these people be arrested for vandalism?

Agreed. Those protesters had no right to block traffic. But the driver has no right to go through them either. I think the article said the police building was nearby. Why were they not out dispersing the crowd? If this would have come to bloodshed, whoever made the decision to just let them block the streets would have that on their hands. So, maybe two things. The driver gets prosecuted for nudging a few protesters, whatever that's worth, and then the driver gets to sue the city for not enforcing the peace.

"protestors" using threats and intimidation to the public. Just no. Stupid should hurt.
Get on the sidewalk with your signs, don't attack other people. If you choose to attack other people, prepare to suffer the consequences for your convictions.

How to handle and avoid being caught in riots in Bloomington has been a concern for a long time. Terrorists blocking roadways exemplifies that concern.

Why aren't the terrorists who are blocking the roadways being sought?

People illegally in the street are not "pedestrians" in the context of yielding right-of-way. They are at best jaywalkers, and at worst, committing far worse crimes (obstructing right-of-way, illegally detaining motorists, etc.).

Here, we disagree. I don't know exactly what relevant statutes say, but IMHO the driver has a moral right to proceed on his right-of-way, and not to be subjected to detention and threats of violence. (Illegally blocking the roadway is an inherent threat of violence, with or without overt threats.)

Police need to start engaging in mass arrests of these *******s. They pose a serious safety risk to law-abiding people.

I guess you can tell this is Bloomington. The driver assumed that their watered down upper middle class liberal brand of protesting was harmless enough to drive right up to them and challenge them. I don't know where that makes sense, but again...... Supposedly they told him to turn around and he obviously didn't. I wouldn't have needed to be asked to turn around, I would have done it the second I see a mass of people blocking the street. Who is right and who is wrong doesn't matter when my windows and potentially my face are all smashed.

I used to have an issue with anti-nuke protesters blocking access to Griffiss AFB in the way back, they would regular as clock work try to shut down access to the base (along with doing other multiple stupid stuff). I was trying to get to 'work' while driving a '72 Suburban; basher bumper, 454 4bbl breathing through NASCAR glass packs, killer stereo. I would stop, short of their road block, roll down the windows, crank up the Black Sabbath or AC/DC and floor it. I never had a problem getting to the gate, it generally took the MPs a moment to stop laughing before they let me in though.

    Enemies domestic IMHO.

And I agree.........then why were the LEO not pursuing them with citations in hand......Reason, the rioters have LE at bay and are in a full court press.
