I've tried it, hasn't helped me that much...

I think for next year I'm going to use Jake's routine.

Pick up a gun the night before a match and practice a few reloads, dry fire at the TV for 5 minutes, reload enough ammo for the next days match, drink myself into oblivion (OK I got that part down), show up 5 minutes before the shooters meeting.

What I save on ammo costs I can spend on alcohol and save myself all that time on the range, not to mention the angst and stress.

I like this idea. Jake is nothing less than a visionary.

I haven't practiced once since my last match the 1st weekend in oct.

the old match gun is in pieces on the workbench getting cleaned and a couple of parts replaced before its retirement party.

the new match gun gets in my hands on saturday. the holster is on my Christmas list.

soon the dryfire will begin... the old callouses that have become soft will become bloody and scream with the joyous pain of progress.

or... I'll just decide "I'll practice tomorrow, I want a beer!"

As for the topic of goals... I have not set any and as such will continue to flounder w/ no marked improvement.
    Is "don't suck" a goal?
This will be another year of minimal participation.
Hmmm... maybe a goal could be "Beat Dave R at the IN match AGAIN." :stickpoke::laugh::laugh::laugh:
I kid. I kid. [Great, I've jinxed the match and it's not even 2012 yet.]

    Scotch is too high end
    16oz miller lite 6 packs
    Capt Morgans

You have a double action cz, use it

    Live fire practice session=500rds

    500 rds of 9mm (reloaded cost) =~$65.

    Bottle of Oban 14 =~$65.

I'm keeping with BillD's "spend ammo savings on booze plan."

Clearly, I've thought this through. :):

I am shooting one more match this Season. However, I'm posting my goals for 2012. If I write them out, I may hold myself more accountable.

    1. Lose Weight!!! I gained 40 lbs during the season. I will be spending the next 4 months losing it. Trainer already procured. Slow but steady 5 lbs. THis week I increase my training frequency. Weekend diet not exactly exemplary. 'tis the season.

    2. Dry Fire, Dry Fire, Dry Fire! 3-4 times per week fro 10-15 minutes at a time. Goal is to drop .4 to .7 consistently from the draw. 1.7 - 2.0 seconds is way to SLOW. Starts tonight. I gave my elbows 3 weeks to heel. They hurt worse...FIDO

    3. Practice Mag changes! FACEBOX!!!:xmad:. Again 3-4 times per week with dry fire. Again, Starts tonight

    4. Live fire 1 time per week weather permitting. With shortening days, this will probably be done on Saturday or Sundays. Plan on getting some Bobcat Steel. I will finally work on the Manny Bragg drills that I have

Missed a good opportunity last weekend. Ammo depleted. Still waiting on new 9mm resizing/decapping dye. Adding .40 M&P 4.25" to my M&P Pro family. I will be geting some practice soon ;)

    5. Watch Videos of other shooters daily. I need to work on movement with a purpose. With the trainer, we have already been working a little with footwork.

Well, that is all I can think of at the moment. I'll add as they come to me.:ingo:

Figure if I update, I will be more likely to keep pushing through. :ingo:
