And that you play with your poop.

Had an inmate in the Jail many moons ago that made his entire family out of poop and had them sitting on his bunk, as we were talking with him he calmly reached down, picked up dad and bite his head off, didn't know whether to laugh or throw up at the time. I was fairly new then. :D

Finished my medical and psych eval today. Pretty straight forward. Now the waiting begins. While there I overheard another applicant mention that some people have already been eliminated and they didn't make it to the medical / psych process. I was under the impression that all 200 conditional offer applicants would go through this process. Anyone shine some light on this?

If the background investigator finds shenanigans in your background before you do the med/psych they will terminate you right then.

Ah. Makes perfect sense. I spoke to my ex employer the other day (who is also a good personal friend) and has yet to be contacted by impd. I figured by now the employment would have been verified. But either way is fine with me. I'm still in the running and plan to keep it that way. Lol

If you are a coveted demographic you may not have a background check at all.

How else would someone make it through 3/4 of the academy with a felony conviction on his record? When IMPD wants someone they will do anything to hire them, including overlooking felony convictions.

Unfortnately for myself, I'm not part of the coveted demographic that you are referring to. But hopefully all still plays out well.

Wow. I haven't read this entire thread. Can you point me to where I can find more info about that? How many times has that happened? Has it ever happened with anyone from the less desired demographic?

A guy in my class had a felony arrest on his record and multiple misdemeanor arrests. He was the epitome of a ****-up during the academy and they kept him around until he proved to be a legitimate danger to the citizens of Indy. He was not a white male.

Yeah, I understand the code that was established. So, does this happen often? Is it only non-white males who receives this kind of deference? I'm doing research for a class I am developing and will be speaking with three departments about this issue and others. Do you know of any white officers who entered the academy with a record? How was it discovered that black recruits had records?

i know of a few officers connected with criminal organizations. This has been going on since police departments were established in America.

I can only speak definitively about my class. The only person with a record in my class was the person I mentioned above.

How did he get past the civilian board? If those in your class knew he was a criminal, how was that discovered and who let him continue in the process?

You won't get anyone to admit to it, especially the administration or the Merit Board.

I like it when the recruit has to be driven to the academy, dropped off/picked up every day since his drivers license was suspended. It was reinstated just prior to field training. Don't know the reason for the suspension.
