So Brits are allowed to defend themselves with chairs. So can they start open carrying a chair with them? If the terrorists use one, will they outlaw them?
Don't give them any ideas :D

They have a bunch of different units around the country that are armed with firearms.

    Like the CNC.

Other armed police units are patrolling sensitive areas like airports, train stations, embassies etc ...

You can easilly find if they carry firearms by looking at their cars.
Armed units have special markings that regular police cars don't have.
Very convenient for the bad guys to know if the unit responding is armed or not ... not sure who had that brilliant idea.
Maybe it's not well known among the general public.

A yellow dot on the corner of the windshield and back windows means the officers inside the vehicle are armed with firearms.
You see lots of those in London.
Correct. My earlier comment was meant to distinguish specialist units (like SO19) from regular officers.

The problem with not taking reasonable steps for the last decade and a half because of tolerance, is that it's been seen as weakness, and things have escalated to the point where more extreme positions are not only palatable but reasonable.
How do you "remove" a religion from a country?
