That happened last season. But yes, so far we know Beth was taken.

He's talking about before the black car took her, cuz he followed that up with, "a black car with a cross...I tried to follow..."

Right, same car as last season, Darrel and Carol follow, they're gone for a day,...

Darrel returns with someone - we assume with Carol - and then they show previews and we see Beth alive, IV, being held,...

Darrel says "I was with her for a little while"...but he didn't save her?...did he try?...Where's Carol? Is that who's "come on out"?...

So, conjecture, I think they found where she's being held and knew they couldn't do anything just the two of them. So, next adventure - Rick and the crew decide whether or not to try to save Beth or go to DC. Of course they decide to try to save her, so here we go.
