Sad but true that this commercial from the 1960's could not run today, and that so many boys these days are prevented from playing with toy guns.

    From http://washingtonweeklynews.com/people-would-be-outraged-if-this-1960s-commercial-aired-today/

"Today children’s toys are brightly colored and over sized to prevent confusion with actual firearms. In the 1960s the goal was to make these toys as realistic as possible under the assumption that with proper parenting, no child would ever be in a situation where they would be mistaken for wielding an actual weapon.

Back then the public assumed that teaching respect and responsibility was the norm. This commercial for Mattel’s Western Frontier Set featuring a rifle and revolver than fire “safe shells” and roll caps actually boasts that their’s is the only toy that actually looks and feels like the real thing. It really shows how much the times have changed."
