It's really pretty simple. If you're a Carson guy, Cruz is the ultimate purveyor of dirty tricks. If you're a Trump guy, then whoever is giving him the most competition is an establishment goon or a low energy, not-ready-for-prime-time-loser. If you're Cruz supporter, you're smart, good looking, and a very astute observer of the political landscape.

Let's just say that Rubio needs to do better than he did to be able to go the distance. He got hammered last night. He relied on his tried and true stump speech points to help extricate himself. It didn't work.

Frankly, Rubio is a lightweight and I can't see anyone giving him the keys to the kingdom. Obama was green and people have learned their lesson. Rubio's Speaker of the House in the State of the Hanging Chad is just about useless. No serious wonk pays attention to Florida.

I've decided that since I have little choice in the matter, I'm just gonna sit back and wait for which candidates appear on the [STRIKE]ballet[/STRIKE] ballot for the general election. I mean for all practical purposes we're all just cheerleaders at this point.

For all our input in the primaries, other than perhaps volunteering or donating money to campaigns, we might as well be Europe watching for the entertainment value. In case it gets boring, please wake me up in November so I can hold my nose and vote for whoever the Republican nominee turns out to be. Realistically I don't see me voting for either Democrat. Unless by some crazy turn of event Hillary gets indicted and Jim Web comes back to win the nomination. I'll prolly win Powerball before that happens.

Yeah, Rubio is a lightweight. He seemed to expect the attacks to come from the usual sources and acted like he was completely unprepared for Christie's attacks. And it's not like he shouldn't have known Christie would attack. He'd been doing it all week.

And let's not give Obama too much credit. He's a lightweight too. Obama was mostly untested in the Dem primary debates. I think the other candidates were too afraid to really get into the black candidate's grill. The biggest challenges to Obama during the '08 campaign came from Clinton surrogates--the original "birthers".

Clinton has shown that she's a fairly effective debater in that she can handle difficult questions in a way that will probably not win anyone over, but will likely not cause her to lose people either. She's not as good as Bill at selling lies, but she's probably better than any of the Republicans at it. The masses are who she has to convince and she can sell the "massive right wing conspiracy" shtick pretty convincingly. It'd be nice if we had an objective electronic truth-o-meter during the debates, but we don't.

Well said. "In Serious Wonks We Trust." We should only pay attention to candidates from serious laboratories of public policy, like Vermont and California. That's where the good stuff happens. Another good catch for you.

Truer words seldom spoken. We might as well read the Daily Mail and be done with it. Matt Damon watching this from Mars matters more than we do. From watching people like Christie and Kasich, it's apparent someone is putting money in their campaigns to safeguard their governorships from falling to the other team. NJ and Ohio are politically important states, and keeping them in the race preserves their access to free publicity.

I will say one thing about this race, however. It is a nice change of pace, to see a "real conservative" out in front breathing clean air...and all the Moderate Turds squirming all over each other back in the Peloton, breathing each others' farts and splitting the vote among themselves. GOP Primaries are usually the other way around. There is a chance for us this time, albeit a very tiny one. If the economy slides back into recession and things work out right, there's actually a chance the voters might not buy the Democratic Dog Food anymore, and Alpo will have a spasm some Wednesday morning when Cruz claims victory and lays out the plan to cancel Obama's Executive Orders (while the Chocolate Bolshevik is still in office).

Hey, we can read the Telegraph and dream, can't we?

Too much time spent on kata, not enough on sparring

It's ashame the Commie killer doesn't come run as a republican. I think he'd do extremely well. To be honest, I think I might like him better than Trump.

Jim Webb would have been great. Would vote for him over half the Republicans.

Also humorous: 12 months from now Chris Christie will be asking Rubio for federal funds for New Jersey. That'll be a cute bit of irony.

If it comes to pass, Rubio should show him a taste of his own medicine and shut off all federal aid to NJ. Just like Christie did that bridge. (WH to Christie office: Just learning how to "get things done" the way uber-executives like you do, pal).

"Me" not the one who voted for Obama. But you rook sirry, voting for Hillary in November...

Ridicule has surpassed common sense. He has a point. So, what he's saying, is that rather than voting for a conservative, someone who advocates reducing the size of government, America would much rather vote for a socialist who promises them free ****. Or a lying, slithering criminal. It outlines the fundamental problem with majority rule--the staple of any good democratic socialist. THEY deserve to pay the price. I don't. But they get to vote for how little my paycheck becomes. I don't get much of a choice, because free **** actually costs, but is really popular.

And, the most well-reasoned piece I've seen on why the GOP should "target" black voters:

Why Republicans Should Target Black Voters | RealClearPolitics

It'd be great if conservatives could appeal to minorities. The problem is convincing them that it is morally wrong to vote to take money from other people and give to themselves. Minorities have been coddled and promised the wealth of others, under the guise of ending poverty, for decades. Now the mean old white Republicans want to take it away. And that ****ing idiot Kasich even makes it a biblical issue, saying that you Christians who don't support his public mandated "compassion", aren't real Christians. Why don't you guys tell him that Matthew 25 is an individual mandate. Not a collective one.

It'd be great if conservatives could appeal to minorities. .

IMHO, it is less about appealing to minorities, and more about staying principled. That's what resonates with people - all people. Conservativism should appeal to anyone, and MOST to people who feel like they do not belong.

Conservativism is allowing people - all people - to go about their business as they see fit.
