So the party has a serious problem with the base. Their response? They are going to roll out Mitt Romney, who pretty much epitomizes why they have a problem with the base. Is this meant to remind everyone how inept these people have become? Are they truly ignorant that the base has grown to despise Romney and his ilk that run the GOP?

    Ikr?

Hell, if I see too much more of Romney before May...I may feel like voting for the Lizard King.

Agreed. They don't care. He's their middle finger because they're pissed off at the GOP and DNC and they don't care if the two parties burn to the ground. The more the two parties rail against him, the more people flock to him. The GOP and DNC are too stupid to get it.

The same could be said about the voters supporting Trump.

Unsure if you consider this a good thing or a bad thing yet... or if you missed what I was saying. Ignoring negative news and criticism of your candidate of choice isn't a compliment, it's being willfully ignorant. So, yes, Trump supporters that tout his fresh new claims are just that.

In other news: The Latest: Romney: Trump would kill children of attackers

If Romney thinks he's so bad, why does he claim Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread? Just a snake oil salesman looking to say what a subset of people wish to hear for support.

Maybe if people stopped with the childish, Alinskyite criticism and "news" on Trump, said negative news and criticism would be taken seriously.

The sorts of things like what you linked here are exactly what the democrats and the MSM try against every Republican candidate in every election: specious, irrelevant, out-of-context spin. Maybe Romney remembers the "binders full of women" nonsense? It's exactly what he's trying to do to Trump here.

Well, let me clear my position up for you. I was a Rand supporter. Then I was a Kasich supporter once Rand dropped out. Kasich is pretty done at this point. I don't like any of the Democrat candidates. I don't like pretty much anything Trump stands for. I also don't like Rubio or Cruz because I believe they're crazy evangelical tea party members. But.....I believe the general election will be Trump v. Hillary at this point unless something radical happens. In which case, I'm forced to vote for the Donald.

And I disagree. The people aren't being willfully ignorant. They are aware of what a ****ty person Trump is. If he were on the internet, he'd be a troll for sure. People aren't ignorant this. They just don't care. Trump is their middle finger to how the GOP and DNC have run things into the ground. The fact that Trump is outside of what the GOP/DNC want and will throw a big fat wrench in the spokes of the .gov is overriding of all of the terribleness that Donald Trump brings with him.

Like the theories I've proposed before.....I don't think the voters are too stupid to get it. I think they see Trump for exactly what he is. But him being such a thorn in the GOP and DNC's side overrides all the terrible that comes with him in the eyes of his voters.

The same could be said about the voters supporting Trump.

To be fair, I didn't type that headline, and I have no idea why that's what the forum pulled. I only saw it when I saw you quote me, and thought you'd changed what I posted.

The headline I posted was "Ryan 'laughed out loud' at Trump threat"... Which is also where that link leads to.

I believe they're pretty equal on most things actually. One is terrible to your face. One is terrible behind closed doors (when she's not being an idiot). Personally, I'd rather someone be terrible to my face so I at least know what they're thinking. The only REAL difference I see is that Trump is better with money, understands technology a bit better, and won't try to grab my guns.

They're both terrible. I just have to pick which one is least terrible, and to me, that's pretty clearly Trump.

Because you like what he says as compared to HRC?

Not all that different from me.

I was a Scott Walker supporter. I would still be, if he were in the race. (I voted for Alan Keyes in 1996 and 2000 (IIRC), even though I knew he had no chance against the by-then-presumptive nominee.)

I was at one time a proponent of a Walker/Cruz ticket. Then I started digging into Cruz and learning more about him. I now consider Cruz a charlatan. Rubio would never have gotten my primary vote. He's an empty suit who lied, and betrayed those who elected him, on some of the most important issues facing us as a nation. Ben Carson was a non-starter. He's a nice person, and successful, but wholly unqualified for president. Kasich is a liberal who enacted the ObamaCare exchanges in Ohio in a Republican-controlled state.

So, where does that leave me? The known risk of Cruz or Rubio, or the unknown potential risk of Trump? Encouraging and facilitating the GOPe's oligarchical control of the party, or supporting someone who can possibly start to root out the corruption? Another four (or eight) years of go-along, get-along, socialism-by-a-thousand-papercuts, or four (or eight) years of the utterly unknown?

He's not a thorn in the DNC. It's the GOP that he's giving fits. Trumps rhetoric is neo-fascist, and what's scary about that, is that people are buying into it. He will be the undoing of the Republican party, and condemn us to Democrat rule for the foreseeable future.

It was a story with updated text. The meta data probably didn't change, and that's from where the forum pulls the text.

That's the issue. Trump is a complete unknown. He's really a loaded gun in a toddlers hands.

    1) He is an excellent business man. He exploits loop holes and lobbies, which pisses off a lot of people. He does it to his advantage. He actually has done a hell of a job as a business man. Maybe he'll bring that passion and fire to being a great president.
    2) As above, but only a different scenario. He could use his political position to manipulate law further and use the office only to pillage America and grow his business.

Who the hell knows which direction he would actually go.

He is vulgar, etc... as well. And I really don't like that. It's not a good example to kids and America. But is Clinton really any better?

John Kasich for 1st time said that "it's important that we stop Mr. Trump" and that he's "not my pick for president."

Also, Christie on Trump presser: "No, I wasn't held hostage"

Which is exactly what a hostage would say.

    chipbennett said:
But Cruz, Rubio, or Kasich would just be more of the same.

I'd prefer more of the same for 4 years so we have a chance to get past this clown show and maybe get a serious Presidential race in 2020.

    seedubs said:

I continue to see this said, but disagree with the entire premise. I've only ever heard this on talk radio, et al... with absolutely nothing backing it up... the whole "tear the party down" mindset.

The same could be said about the voters supporting Trump.

So the people who are fed up with the status quo are stupid?? I get it now. Either vote for the person the party thinks is best for you or your stupid. Gotcha!!

The Democrats and Republicans don't have a Trump problem. They have a pissed off electorate problem.
