We went to a cookout. The power went out just as I was putting my bread in the oven that I was supposed to take. The cowboy beans stayed hot in the crock pot and I just plugged it in when we got there. So...the bread sat in the oven all day and I turned the oven back on when we got home. I have no idea if it will be edible, but if not...I would have had to toss it to the birds anyway so I figured I'd let it bake for a bit and see what happens. It is definitely overproofed, but it might be okay to chew on.
It was a nice night for a bonfire though.
I was also in the middle of doing laundry when the power went out so I have the dryer running and a load in the washer. I'll probably crochet for an hour or so and unwind before I head to bed.
I once forgot about a pan of rolls I had proofing (the kind you can buy that's basically a bag of frozen dough balls). They sat on top the dryer for almost 8 hours and completely puffed together and over the edge of the pan. I punched it down, kneaded it a litttle, formed it into a boule, gave it a 30 min second rise and baked it. Turned out WAY better than the rolls made correctly.
Sorry...I wandered off. Forgot I was also in the middle of ordering parts for the Polaris hubby is fixing on Ebay when the power went out. I had to find the part # again so I could get that ordered.
The bread was half baked when we left and I just left it in the oven. I turned the oven back on and left it in for a half hour or so...we'll see tomorrow how hard it is. Hubby likes crusty, chewy bread so this might be just right. If not, I'll make another batch.
