Yep. It needs some work, but the price reflects that and leaves room in the budget for it.
We will be doing some remodeling before moving in. Replacing existing carpeting, replacing bathroom and kitchen carpet with tile or laminate, replacing wood paneling with drywall, and repainting the entire interior. There is 50 years of tar and nicotine on the walls and ceiling.

Paint will not cover that very well. You will have to do something special to get over the tar etc.

I've found True Value Hardware people to be more knowledgeable than Menards/Home Depot people.

Will do. We have a pretty knowledgeable network. We have a couple electricians and a plumber in the family, and I know a half-assed retired HVAC guy. Hell, I even know a professional dirt looker-at-er.

I'd have to look into what they used.

That was my point...serious ammonia based cleaner and let dry...repeat....Kilz.
