Well guys go the lowdown today from our Clinic Doctor at work and she's got me heading to a shoulder specialist tomorrow at 1pm, docs name is Sallay. Supposedly he's one of the better in the region because he also does work for the Colts. SO you know that they're not going to have a hack and cut as a surgeon.

So here's what the radiology report says:

1: Full thickness tear involving the superior fibers of the subscapularis tendon with associated medial subluxation of the bicipital tendon.

2: There is moderately extensive and diffuse circumferential chronic fragmentation and tearing of the fibrous labrum.

3: There is moderate hypertrophic spurring seen at the glenohumeral joint.

4: There is thickening of the auxillary recess which may reflect associated capsulitis or acute capsular sprain.

The top one is the biggie, this muscle runs below the collar bone towards the arm and the tendon wraps up and around the shoulder and serves as a stability force on the shoulder socket, falls in the rotator cuff category.

2-3-4 are secondary but they supposedly fall all in line as support groups.

Normally it's a 3 to 4 week wait to see this doctor, but he was told about injury #1 and he said "get him in asap" so after talking to another doctor this afternoon and telling me that this falls into the 5%-10% of all rotator cuff injuries because of it's rarity. Said for this to happen the you had to injure it with arms out and be forced to the side, down and back all at the right time. Arthroscopic is usually not an option.

So looks like I might have at least 1 zipper scare, maybe two depends on what his plan of attack will be, I might be down up to 4 months if this is as invasive as I have been told.

So I'll try and find out all the nuts and bolts about this, wife is not happy and actually cried for about 10 minutes this afternoon when I got home.

Luckily I had some great company tickets to the Pacers game tonight, so me, her and my in-laws went. Pacers won, had a good time and being the good dad that he is, calmed his baby down with some reassurance that everything should go just fine.

Let ya know about it later tomorrow night.

Good luck with surgery and rehab.

At least you've got that home theater to keep you occupied during recovery!

Patching up should be the easy part.

Sounds like you are in good hands. Rehab will be very important. I hope it all goes well for you.

Rehab will be the part that sucks, I never had a major injury that required surgery and played competitive sports up until I was 38 (ten years ago) and I was not a weekend warrior. Basketball season was practicing on Sunday and playing in either 2 or 3 leagues a week, with an occasion tourney thrown in.

Softball, practice until the first game of the year, then it was 3 nights a week and 3 out of 4 weekends a month on tourneys.

    Ah, those was the days!.

Now on the Pacers, 1st qtr. they stunk up Conseco, then someone flippe da switch and they lit up the Bobcats by a 32-19 score and pretty much coasted the rest of the game until the last 3:00 when they made a mad dash, but the Blue & Gold held them off.

Danny Granger had a horrendous hit to the check/face/head at the 1:45 mark and walked slowly to the bench after stopping at mid-court and looking like he colasped as he was trying to sit down. Our seats was 17 rows behind the bench and you could see that he was in a lot of pain and had to be helped by 2 people because he could hardly walk. Hope is ok, they don't need anymore problems.

    Appreciate all the support guys!

Well that will be nice for the first two ar three weeks while it heals, bummer part is going to try and type/mouse with the left hand and still trying to get some quality INGO time.

May have to see if I can get some buxom blonde nurse to type for me while I dictate what should be said in the thread.

Think my wife will go for that???

I haven't caught a Pacer Game live this year. I normally get a few in each season. The team seems to be so out of synch with each other. There is talent there, but they can't seem to mesh. I think it's time for a new coach to shake things up a bit.

I'll laugh when you end up with a nurse like me.

I love seeing the disappointment on guys faces when I walk in the room.

On a side note, I would do some INGO typing for you. :ingo:

Beerman, you should just say "screw that" for all the repairs they're doing. Have them put the "I, Robot" shoulder in for ya instead! :D

Ah heck why stop at that. give me two Steve Austin legs, one of his eyes but equip it with all the latest greatest optics, starlight/infrared/laser enabled that will also perform xray color vision, and a Tranformer styled left arm that turns from the normal everyday looking arm into a chaingun tote'n flaming bullet thrower.

Can you imagine the left arm, what awesome concealed carrythat would be, when you pull that bad boy out at a drug crazed liquored up robber. His reactions would be in this order.... :n00b: :crying: :runaway:

I should be gready, I WANT IT ALL!!!!

(would it be too much to ask for a transplant that would make Peter North blush?)

Minds are a great thing, why waste it all the time for actual work, ya gota think with creative amusement!
