Can you re-certify an air tank for paintball?

depends..there are so many kinds out there. I can re-certify most any of them as long as they arent disposable of course. if its a fiber wrapped light weight cylinder then Id have to test it hydro-statically which will cost more as the valve will have to be removed,cleaned and O-ring replaced and seal checked..often it is cheaper to just buy a new tank. If I can test it ultrasonically then it can be done for around $15 depending on what size it is and whether or not the pressure code is already in my software..if its not then I will have to build a new code which will add another $5 onto the price as it has to be verified by the DOT...chances are I have it already as I can test anything from 1800psi-10,000psi.

Just run it. Dates mean nothing.

This is true...unless you take it to an arse whole to have it re-filled and he refuses to fill it because it is out of test. but its is always a good idea to visually inspect all of your cylinders regularly. I've seen what damaged tanks can do when pressurized..and I've even experienced it a time or two. I had a medical oxygen tank pop on me once and I spent a few months with my jaw wired shut

There is no penalty for using or transporting an expired tank.
and here is a little secret...NEVER bleed the tank/empty your tank..as long as it has at least a little gas in it then it will be good to go even after the due for test date. what is the last test date on your tanks?
