    Out****ingstanding.
Most people fail to realize that mags are a consumable item.
They have a shorter service life than the weapon itself, and also require maintenance.
This goes even for unit armorers in some cases.

I've had to go as far as have my wife mail me some of my personal mags while in Iraq to square away the soldiers in my section of a unit I was attached to. (an NCOs work is never done)

    Most malfunctions... are magazine based.

I'm a 28 round per mag guy. Yes, I realize I'm giving up two rounds, but oh well.

I use mostly Pmags but I do have a few GI mags and dozen or so Hex mags in the rotation. I like consistency across all of them and have found 28 rounds makes loading the gun consistent and easy no matter what brand it is.

Good info on generation design changes. Interesting.

I'm not sure that rounds coming out when you hit the bottom of the magazine has anything to do with those feed lips? that happens with about any magazine. It also happens by wacking the base of the mag too hard like you are having to overcome the spring tension of an overloaded mag on a closed bolt, but the bolt is open... will often throw rounds like that.

But you are an odd one sir! :)

Those twenty rounders are 15 rounds too many with you on the trigger, right?

    ;)
Negative. NRA & CMP rules dictate magazine may not touch the ground or any part of the body.
Make ya a 3 to 1 bet. I get 10 rounds, you get 30, we both fire at 600 yards and compare scores....bet ya I still beat ya.....smiles.....I don't know how to do the emoji thing.....

    Not taking that bet sir!

Interesting that legnth is the issue over capacity. I knew what you do, but certainly don't know the rules.

For offhand & slow prone it is single load, for rapid sitting & rapid prone you load either 5 & 5 or 2 & 8 depending on service rifle or match rifle.

Ok let's make it 800 yards.....but the magazine still may not touch the ground or any part of the body
