with broth based, i always feel very dieteticHowdy Jay! I'm sure I'd like that too. I've got a can of Progresso's version, but it also has chicken in it too. I'm a big fan of cream-based soups. Good comfort food. Susan's not a fan though. She likes broth-based soups.

I could probably tolerate it if I thickened it up with a flour roux. More like a stew. Although I'm really not much of a stew fan either.I always have that after I have a roast.
There's a reason they recommend beef or chicken broth when prepping for a colonoscopy.Yeah, I'm not a fan of broth based either, like you said I never feel satisfied.
That's true. It's just never even on my radar. I just eat the leftover roast with the leftover potatoes, carrots and onions.I look at the soup from a roast as a couple extra free meals and I do like free. Sometimes I get tired of it, but it is cheap eating.
Oh now I do love good French onion soup. We had these big round croutons at Fridays that we'd put on top and then a big slice of provolone that we'd melt under the broiler. Swiss would be good too!Onion soup with Swiss cheese melted over the top. They serve that at the Rathskeller but as a prelude to your actual meal. Killer flavor.
It's usually a beef broth based soup. Pretty simple really. I don't know why I never think of making it. It's best if you have little soup crocks though, so you can put them under a broiler to melt the cheese on top.I don't think I've ever had an onion soup. I'm a big fan of onions though.
Looking forward to seeing it! I've already been thinking about what kind of bread to get if I make it. I'm thinking a nice crusty baguette for dipping. Ooh, and then I could get a wheel of Brie and have baked brie to use up the rest of the baguette.Soup is close to done. I’ll snap a pic for reference purposes.
