I'm not even sure. I'd like to stay under $150 to $200. They are seriously only going to use it mostly for Solitaire and maybe viewing her word/excel files. Their desktop has lost it microsoft programs and she can't open her files so wants to be able to do that too.

I am seriously thinking I may need to buy ME a new laptop and give her mine. This one is five years old but still works great. I put all of my files on an external hard drive so that has kept it from getting bogged down in the memory department fairly significantly. It already has more programs than she would need.

Her computer has Windows XP on it....so it is old.

So take a look at Tiger Direct http://www.tigerdirect.com/?cm_sp=Masthead-_-Logo-_-NA . Look at the refurbished unit. They have both desktops and laptops to choose from. I saw several desktops that meet your price range. They are a good company that has been around for awhile. Keep in mind alot of these come with Windows 10 and it is different than Windows XP. You can use Open Office in place of MS Office. It is free and will open the Office files.
