Adapting the q-jet manifold to the square bore Holley carb is a good idea. Q-jets are great on street, but a Holley has so many more options for tuning that it's a lot easier to make the carb run right.
q-jets are great street carbs though with the small primaries.
I have so many tricks for a "Q" jet. Friends ran stock classes at the drags and they were wizards with them.
I ran one of these on a street car briefly and it was really amazing how well it performed. The sound of the secondary's opening up was sweet.
I've always heard a properly built and tuned q-jet is arguably the best carb around.I have so many tricks for a "Q" jet. Friends ran stock classes at the drags and they were wizards with them.

Love those trucks. I had a line on a completely rust free rolled out in Vegas for $800...... Prolly should have pulled the trigger on that.
Well that didn't last long.
Did you get some for everyone?OK.....just used my CC on the Jegs site.
Cam/kit/headers/etc are on the way for the 383.
It is actually a 391 but semantics.
I have the manifold and carb.
Also the complete MSD ignition package from the bracket car new in the box.
Did you get some for everyone?
On another note, I have 2 sets of headers for a 65-70? "b" body GM with small block. One stainless with a couple thousand miles on them and a brand new set of ceramic coated hookers that have never been installed. They were off/for my uncles '66, but then he decided to ditch the 327 and go with a 383, they are round port and the 383 has Vortec D port heads.... Guess I need to find another project car.

Update on my 1966 C-10
Picked up my new 17" American Racing wheels and tires yesterday.
The rear differential overhaul is complete with new gears, posi unit, bearings, seals, axels, brake drums, wheel cylinders, brakes, spring kit, 4" drop springs and lowered shocks.
The motor and trans will be coming out next week along with the stock crossmember.
The old will be replaced with a completely rebuilt suspension and crossmember from a 1979 1/2 ton truck with new Moog parts.
2" dropped spindles, 1-2" drop springs, lowered shocks, rebuilt TH350 trans, replace gaskets, paint motor, trans and put it back in the truck.
The old six lug setup will be changed to 5x5
disc brakes
power steering
lots more to come like heat and A/C from Vintage Air.
Im hoping it will be finished when I get back from the Smokey Mountain Fall Rod Run.
Check Summit to see what they offer. I am very pleased with the Summit brand headers I put on my lemans. Yes I had to ding them to fit, but they are headers so that is expected. I did not go with ceramic coated because they are temporary, eventually it will get a set of custom built that actually fit with oval pipes so it tucks nice and tight to the body so I can go lower if I want.I need new headers for my 1966 C-10 build. It is a 327
I currently have headers but they are knocked in on one tube to keep them from hitting the lower A Arm.
Im looking at a ceramic coated set for around $350
Hey, some old man sent me those same pics earlier!
Ha! Rat! I get it!
I know how that really cool stuff hiding in places goes.... I have quite a few pieces like that hidden all over, now if I could just remember where everything is....
