I cut the fender lips and bent the sheet metal up to make a little extra room for wider tires. Still had the back end jacked up. Like CM says, it was the look back then. A nice rake was important.
Now looking back, I'm glad the rear wheel wells never got "kissed" by another car. I'm sure I weakened the structural integrity of the rear quarter wheel well area significantly.
Oh well, it was fun.
