If you’re doing it because you want to be more like republicans claim they stand for, fine. If you’re doing it because you want a party that was provides a breeding ground for the train wreck you just left, stay.

Like California Democrats fleeing that state, and spreading their bad ideas elsewhere?

I don’t think that they’re gonna drop the policy preferences that made them Democrats in the first place. They seem to be dropping out of the party because they see the AOC wing winning long term. I think the small town, working class, pro union democrats feel left out of the conversation, because the conversation democrats have now is about socialism, pronouns, intersections of oppression, and toxic masculinity.

I don’t think they’re going to drop them either.

But, to get the things we want, hearing protection act comes to mind, will not be just our hardcore supporters, it will be a collation of our supporters and moderates that think it best for their political future, to get it done. The bigger tent is what will get it it done. That will need to be backed up by the judges Trump put on the bench.

Notice that Trump is now winning more often at lower levels of the court system than a few years ago? It is certainly not over but it is significantly better than when he was elected. Still more work to do, but on a better track than before Trump...

If it works out that way, I’ll be glad to admit my reservations were unfounded.

That possibly explains Biden’s over-performing the polls. He’s been up to ~ 20% ahead of Bernie in the polls. He won by >35%. I don’t think the black vote accounts for the over performance as some have suggested. He seemed to get the percentage of Black vote that the polls predicted. The turnout was pretty impressive. 2/3 of registered voters voted. Because Biden won big, it seems reasonable to suspect that the thing that drove people to the polls in such numbers was to vote for Biden, or, to vote against Sanders.

The latter seemed most likely since many democrats who openly supported a different candidate prior, donated heavily to Biden last minute as Biden seems most able to beat Bernie.

So the better than predicted support for Biden may just be that Democrats have decided Warren, nor Bootyjudge, nor Bloomy, have what it takes to knock Sanders out. Or, it could be that the higher turnout was partly Republicans switching over to vote against Bernie. Or maybe both are somewhat true.

Do you think that Republican crossovers would do so because they think Biden would be easier for Trump to beat than Bernie? And, if so, why do you think that, since Biden is not nearly as polarizing as the Bernshevik and would attract a broader spectrum of leftists to the cause
