    Teddy Rosevelt. Interesting President.

I’ll be off googling that gun...

The 1876 was Winchesters answer to the Sharps, but they could never get the action to work with the 45-70. It was simply an 1873 on steroids. Until John Browning works for Winchester and developed the 1886 this was all they had.

In time, Roosevelt moves on to the 1895 in 405 WCF, a real powerhouse in lever guns.

Look for a Pedersoli 44-40, you won't be disappointed.
I’m not after the big boom. I need one that is over a hundred years old. I have three guns that are wood and blue, and they are all Winchester’s I need to find a Colt now that isn’t an AR. :D

You have spent several years swaying me to the old classics. I’m taking the the bait. :hooked:

The 50-95 was one big honkin cartridge, here compared to the 45-70.
You have taught me much respect for the classics. I’ll be doing an AR10 in .32 Winchester Special. I’ll have to design new steel to withstand it first. AR500 won’t!

Have to fix one of my 100 yard plates tomorrow, the lead spall from 32WS ate the bolts out of the wood.
