The 1876 was Winchesters answer to the Sharps, but they could never get the action to work with the 45-70. It was simply an 1873 on steroids. Until John Browning works for Winchester and developed the 1886 this was all they had.

In time, Roosevelt moves on to the 1895 in 405 WCF, a real powerhouse in lever guns.

You have taught me much respect for the classics. I’ll be doing an AR10 in .32 Winchester Special. I’ll have to design new steel to withstand it first. AR500 won’t!
