I think that before I consider dropping $1200 on a full size 1911 that will only add improvements in carry over what I have today, I need to actually carry one of my full size 1911s for a month. I already have full size 1911s that I love to shoot, and that are more accurate than I am, so adding another 1911 instead of needed car parts makes no sense if the only thing it brings to the table is a capability that I might not use. So, February is full size 1911 carry month. Lets see how far into the month I can get before calling uncle and going back to carrying the CCO/P01/P07/SP01C.

I tried being a man once and carrying a 1911. I quickly realized that 5" was just too much for me, got in the way of the boys. That is how I justified buying a commander, I figure all I needed was 3/4" less barrel. It was better, but the the barrel in the upper thigh really bothered me.... Guess I'm just not man enough.

I think I may have tried this once before and made it about 4 days before falling back to carrying the CCO sized 1911. We'll see how far we get this time. If I can do a month, I get a new 1911, so there's an incentive.

I called off work today. That felt good.
So I post up at the bench and tear down the 2011. I mean "All" the way down. This thing is an engineers dream. Everything is near zero tolerance. Wow.
2 hours. And it is smooth as silk again.

I actually used a 1911 barrel bushing wrench to take down a CZ. That was most gratifying.

All of mine get a field strip and a brush to the internals and bore with fresh lube after every range trip.

When my son lived next door (before the daughter took over the house) mine got religiously cleaned because he did it.....:):

Now I do maybe 2 possibly 3 range trips and then clean. Unless we do a group shoot and mine get the holy crap ran out of them.....

I can't stand a dirty gun. Even if I've only shot a few rounds through it.... CDO kicks in and I can't help it.

I am completely enamored with the SP01 comapct. Can't get enough of it. It's just so, perfect.
I used to be like that but have relaxed in that area some. When I would go shooting with my sons, my favorite part of the range trip was the cleaning of guns. It was always fun to rehash the trip while cleaning guns. Now that I shoot alone, the cleaning has become a bit of a chore.

I don't care much for cleaning rifles.... Cleaning has always been enjoyable. I used to do it with buddies after range trips, but I soon figured out that I cannot clean and talk at the same time..
