Actually, he is a private investigator working directly for the president. He is not conducting diplomacy, but instead conducting an investigation and reporting back. The president gets to set foreign policy and he has had a ton of evidence that his "employees" have been sabotaging him. You know, like the FBI, the DOJ, the CIA, and ambassadors.

You know what shadow diplomacy is? Here are a couple of recent examples (there are many more):

• John Kerry meets with Iranian officials over the now-dead nuclear deal, giving them advice on how to work around a US President.
• Nancy Pelosi attends UN climate conference and assures them that the US is "still in" despite the US never having even signed onto the Paris climate agreement- she does not speak for America

Not quite. John Kerry was wrong, and should've been investigated for his Iranian deals. Nancy Pelosi, as a sitting member in Congress is kinda afforded the ability to speak on behalf of the House and the things they will pursue. In both of those instances, things were done publicly and above board. Rudy not so much. He conducted his work in the "shadows," hence the "shadow diplomacy."

This doesn't make any sense. You're essentially saying that everyone at or above Yovanovitch's level, calling out the "deep state," is in the deep state themselves. So yeah, problematic.

I have been reading the IG report on the FBI investigation into Trump/Russia and came across this gem and immediately thought of you.
