How about the White House denying they are going to pull troops out?

Maybe they will, maybe they won't? So far, all I've heard is an over the top tweet, and the observers withdrew. Time to sit back and see what the next move is.

It's 1,000 troops. That's not exactly the vacuum that the media is making it out to be. The Kurds have lost 11,000 troops. This is theater.

The Kurds are our ally. Turkey is our ally, via NATO, that they shouldn't even be a part of. I'll wait for the next move.
It isn't the number of troops. Those troops, at whatever level, prevent the Turks from attempting to wipe out the Kurds.

    Interesting fact.
According to the World Factbook, Kurdish people make up 18% of Turkey's population (about 14 million, out of 77.8 million people). Kurdish sources put the figure at 10 to 15 million Kurds in Turkey.

The deficit continues to grow to nearly-unprecedented levels. Like, Obama era numbers.

Turks = competent militarily, seem to be secretive, not fans of the U.S., not easy to intimidate, appear to be scheming all the time,

I would not trust them or turn my back on them.

Here is some interesting information most probably do not know https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hood_event

Kurds= overly friendly to the point it seems fake, defiant to the Turks to the point of hatred, good fighters that are somewhat organized, kinda like Middle East hillbillies IMO

    I would not trust them

Oh and they are Socialist/Leninist https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurdistan_Workers'_Party

This is all my opinion formed on my experience with the people, of course this is with the military which is made of alpha males in most countries. So your interactivity is base on a “primate dance” with alpha males that may not tell the entire picture.

Its not our fight it between them.

If we hadn't actively courted them to work in conjunction with our military, I'd agree. Allies that sacrifice blood, regardless of ideology, should be treated as such, until they prove that shouldn't be treated at such (emphasis, last part).

The Turks don't like the Kurds operating so close to their border in Northern Syria and never have. They seek to create a buffer zone by pushing the Kurds to withdraw from the area. I've also read that one of their objectives is to resettle about 2 million Syrian refugees there.

The Kurds will have to seek alliances with Damascus now. They are not against the Assad government per se and would most certainly prefer Syrian government control of the area over facing a Turkish incursion since it is still Syrian territory.

Trump feels that we have done our part in the fight with ISIS in the region and it's time to back away and let the Turks and the Kurds fight out their own separate age old issues of which we should not be involved in.

    Kut,

I agree with your statement for allies while personally I feel that same as you about the subject the reality is different.

IME “allies” are the U.K. France, Germany, South Korea and others which are treated with respect.

Groups we train and use to fight for us are not viewed in the same light and are quite “expendable”.

The adage the enemy of my enemy is my friend is alive and well.

Courting them to work with our military to defeat a common enemy is a totally separate issue from the ongoing conflict between the Turks and the Kurds. That's not our battle.

Ellen DeGeneres was spotted at a game with George W Bush, and she was obviously attacked for doing so.

She responded exactly how she should.

“When I say be kind to one another, I don’t mean only the people that think the same way you do. I mean be kind to everyone.”

Video of her responding to the criticism here:

While true, he doesn't have the ability to do it. That is all on Congress. He just won't try to stop it.

He said he doesn't care about the debt back when he did the end-around spending deal with Pelosi last year.
