People who build in precarious places should pay for their own excesses. They should have to pay true market rates for building on ocean front properties in high risk areas. No more subsidizing their own foolishness.

Speaking of which, I hope the house I'm planning to rent for a week on the outer banks is still available later this fall. It's practically on the beach, in-ground swimming pool, game room, outdoor pool table. All of that cheaper than a hotel room for the week.

Agreed. Building in a forest and those that build next to a cliff by the ocean are some others. Forests will burn and those cliffs will collapse into the ocean.

Michelle Obama's opinion, considering her age, is hardly an outlier within the black community. Heck she falls right about in the middle. Melania literally has done porn, has been accused of prostitution by news services, and quite realistically may have been an illegal immigrant. I find it fascinating that the people supporting the party of "family values" can call one First Lady a "b*tch," but can't bring it upon themselves to call the other a "whore."
So im going to step in and give a little parity, at the very least to illustrate the massive hypocrisy.

That is my impression... that working hard in school to get good grades, a college degree and a high paying job is degraded as a "white thing" (I'll leave out the much harsher epithets) in the black community. Why? Don't they realize that this is self-sabotage of the very community they seek to uplift? Why do so few blacks seek and attain professional degrees (engineering, computer science, law, medicine)? IMO, it is not because they lack capable individuals, it's that their whole community is against them being individually successful "the white way".

I've seen that in many subdivisions of people.
Instead of making themselves work hard, it's easier for people to tear down those that do better.
