Hope to get a thundersnow, it's been almost a decade since I got to see one. It's so cool to hear the muted sharp crack of thunder in a heavy snow shower.

Anyone experience thunder with this storm yet?

4 to 6 inches of nice packing snow, perfect for snowmen and snow balls, when I got up this morning.

I took my morning walk while my son fired up ye olde John Deere and plowed our driveway and most of our private road. He'll probably do it again later. Office was closed, yet there are an intrepid 3 of us here. 80/94 west looks....unsatisfying. East isn't bad.

How much ice or snow did you all get up north?
Downtown Fort Wayne started snowing around 10:30am Wed.

Probably a half inch so far but coming down pretty steady.

We had rain start about 3:00am. The rain slacked off a bit mid-morning then went to snow. So we missed out on icing/sleet and went straight to snow.

Been right on the edge of this line all morning.

If you have the capability, light it outside, then bring in after a few minutes.
Thanks BW & ancjr. the unit is in a 1,750 SF open, unfinished basement so lighting outside would mean carrying it up lots of stairs. Since it is in the basement I am not too worried about the initial smell. This is meant to keep the pipes from freezing for the most part. Plumbing is 99% exposed in the basement with no insulation to speak of in the basement ceiling. The plan is to center it in the basement, leave the door open, and let gravity take care of things.

Be cautious of the Carbon Monoxide build-up. Running kero heaters in my shop, the CM builds up pretty quick, and I have to open the door for a little bit.

Just a technical point. Carbon monoxide is CO, not CM.

If running kerosene heaters in living space, in particular, it is wise to have a CO detector nearby.
I just shortened Carbon Monoxide to CM. I guess I should've used the chemical formula instead. My bad, wasn't even thinking.

    Stop yelling at me. :):

I just realized, it could've been a Mouse reference, too.

It's picked up a bit up here on the north side of Elkhart. Probably up to 6".

Well, I got caught up. That's a heck of a project you have going there. Looks like fun. I had a CJ-5 years ago. It was a fun vehicle. I have and still to think about having a project vehicle of some sort in retirement. We shall see. Right now, I don't see how I could afford a project.

Not easy, especially on the VA disability budget instalment plan. I just buy a part, or couple parts whenever I can. That's why I've been 3 years at it so far.

We take care of my father-in-law who has Alzheimer's. I just went by there with chow. (McDonald's big breakfast with hotcakes) In the time it took me to eat it, make him take his pills, and let his dog out, there was a fresh inch of snow on my hood.
