    I gotta let you folks know that peanut butter has 25% of your fat and 7 grams of protein in 2 tablespoons! That's some concentrated nutrition in an easily stored container.

    if i only had one thing, it would have to be pennut butter. it is resealable and has a long shelf life after opening. all i need is to buy time and i will find a permanent or renewable food source. pennut butter for me

    There are a lot of good canned things from stew to soup, etc. However, I think that survival food boils down to calories per dollar. A can of Treet (Kroger's version of Spam) goes for $0.99 and has 840 calories; by comparison, a can of beefaroni costs that much or more and has only 520 calories. I'm not saying that one should have no "comfort food", but if you really want to stock up, cals/$ is a big consideration.

    You need to get with your missus to start using coupons. We ain't paid anywhere close to a buck for Beefaroni. Use the coupons, get more food for the pantry...
