Lt. Gen. Kellogg talks about what should've been done to counter Putin. If I remember correctly, they were exactly the kind of things Trump was railing on Europe to incorporate. Specifically, not being dependent on Russia for things like energy and fulfilling their NATO pledge of at least 2% GDP going toward bolstering their military capabilities. What's going on with Germany riding the bench is a perfect example of what Trump was talking about. They've become too dependent on Russia for their energy needs and have given Putin the leverage to use against them.

This. Putin has made it no secret from before he *took* office that he wants Russia to return to the "glory days" of the USSR. I fear that once granted Ukraine and Belarus, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic will be next on this madman's agenda. You can take the man out of the KGB, but you can't take the KGB out of the man. But we'll have peace in our time, so we'll have that going for us, which is nice.

Donetsk and Luhansk are much bigger than what they control now. The rest is controlled by the Ukraine. It will take Russian troops to push Ukraine out.

For his next trick, Putin will undoubtedly identify "leaders" of the Donetsk and Luhansk "Peoples Republics", who will ask Russia to dispatch troops to "protect the peaceful Russian people and preserve order".

It will be just like March 1938 with Adolf and Arthur Seyss-Inquart in Austria, or like September 1938 with Adolf and Konrad Heinlein in the Sudetenland (Vlad needs a pair of talking heads today).

Maybe Ukraine should offer to cede the Exclusion Zone around Chernobyl to Russia--after all, Russia (as successor to the CCCP) is responsible for what happened there.
