    ... a friendly.

Look! There is a man coming closer from the horizon. What's that he's saying?? "Fundamentally change Amerika..." And others merely muddy the waters for him. Is it patriotic to take an I.D. and run with it, and stand for it, or sit down and shut up and load magazines? You want pronoun definitions, steveh? How about, "THEY have OUR future all plotted out for US." YOU fill in the blanks to your satisfaction. Believing otherwise is to be a tin-foil dupe. Watch for IMMENSELY greater "change" in your future. I don't want you on my "6". EBG

    Let's make this simple.

Apparently someone in the media has condemned 'right wing extremists'. I have no idea the context or what specifically was said, since that's the only information that was presented in the O.P.

So I will just ask you. Why do you assume that whoever mentioned 'right wing extremists' was referring to you? What is the definition of the term in your mind? Is that the same definition that was in their mind when they said it?

Look it up on any media ...

... and then come here again to chide. " Why do you assume that whoever mentioned 'right wing extremists' was referring to you? What is the definition of the term"... RWX is a pejorative in the minds of many on this site, as evidenced by MANY comments. I too don't know the origin, but can recall that it was immediately taken-up by some, and worn as a badge of independent thinking, and Constitutionally minded behavior, as in proper citizenship and Second Amendment beliefs. It has steadily strengthened but gone down-hill since then. "Why does it apply to me?" Because I have seen the hand-writing on the wall, and we are found wanting; because I believe in and live out the tenets and philosophy of Love delineated in the King James Bible; because my home bristles with defensive armaments unseen by the ordinary passer-by. Along with that, please understand that the free interchange of ideas on these pages is also part of The Constitution. Further, don't make the mistake of ascribing any absolute feeling as a doxy to any idea posted by a writer, as some ideas are merely ideas, to accelerate thought, not acetic argument.

I wasn't chiding. I was asking what this term means to people here, since this entire thread revolves around it.

Apparently that was too much to ask.

This is true. For the sake of discussion, let's define this one.

Quoting wikipedia, historically the term is derived from:

An authoritarian form of conservatism is probably the definition I would most agree with. However, the same article quotes Thomas Sowell as saying

I understand his point, and he is absolutely right. However, being an 'opponent of the left' does not make you right-wing, so that is where he and I would have to part ways on this issue.

How would you define the term?

Your quote from wikipedia was about right wing politics. Here is their redirect from right wing extremist.

Far-right, extreme right, hard right, radical right, and ultra-right are terms used to discuss the qualitative or quantitative position a group or person occupies within right-wing politics. Far-right politics may involve anti-immigration and anti-integration stances towards groups that are deemed inferior and undesirable. [1] At the most extreme, far-right movements have pursued oppression and genocide against groups of people on the basis of their alleged inferiority. [2]Far right politics commonly includes authoritarianism, nativism, racism and xenophobia. [3]
Far right is commonly associated with persons or groups who hold extreme nationalist, xenophobic, racist, religious fundamentalist, or reactionary views.
[4] Typically the term is applied to fascists and neo-Nazis,[5] although there is a running dispute among scholars about where fascism resides along the left/right spectrum.

88GT, I didn't say ALL people that accept the label right wing extremist are racists but that is how the majority of people would see it...globally. Accept what labels you want, I'll gladly pass.

"Sure, I've been called a xenophobe. Truth is, I'm not. I just honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism." - Kenny Powers :rockwoot:

I think there is less xenophobia than people think...
Most people have no problem with folks coming here to "become" Americans..
The problem arises when people come here to be anything BUT Americans.

    Kenny Powers is awesome.

As far as people coming here to be anything but Americans...as long as they come legally, pay their taxes, and aren't plotting terrorist attacks I honestly don't care if they want to take on the full American identity. Obviously, it'll be easier if they can speak English but if they want to hold on to traditions, language, and customs...not an issue. The issue I have is when people come illegally and continue committing criminal activities and the government doesn't do a whole lot about it but that is more of an issue with government BS.

Tolerance is NOT the same as acceptance..

I have an issue with ...

... "LEFT-wing" extremists (have you ever seen that in the MSM?) twisting The Constitution, loading the SCOTUS in their favor, attacking loyal Americans via various alphabet-organizations, etc. I do believe we have lost America already, there being no difference between "D" & "R" any more. I believe in fair integration, in its truest form, with no weighting to a darker side because of some bliss-ninny's faulty conscience. I believe in the fair system we already have set up for immigration, and I believe that EVERY illegal ought to be pursued, caught, prosecuted, imprisoned, and deported before ANY MORE LEGAL immigrants are allowed in-country. Tell the legally immigrated new citizens already here that their relatives who are waiting to come in will be allowed in, one-for-one as illegals are deported. I believe in Peace. But now I am angry. Bitter. Clinger. Sharpshooter. EBG
